Found an odd issue with HVAC

I was finding the HVAC a bit fussy.
With AC on 73F I was to cold and 74F to warm. Rear was off. I’d just live with one or the other. Driving alone. Set to Auto.

I was testing how warm the back was for my dogs. I used a remote thermometer. That had internal and external sensor.

With AC on 73F the front was very close to 73F. Hatch area was still to warm for the dogs even with sunshade. So dogs will go in the back seat if hot and sunny.

But I noticed HVAC was extremely accurate in front when rear fan was on.

As soon as I turned REAR FAN OFF. The front temp shot up to 83F. You could feel the shift immediately. I have bring it down 72 or lower to feel comfortable.

I don’t think it’s like air is distributed better with rear on. You can immediately feel the front cool air shift dramatically the moment I turn the rear fan on or off.

Only thing I can think of is the compressor is in “ECO” mode when it’s just the front. Or it’s a bug.
