A few hours after I received my order change email, I received an emailing informing me of my delivery appointment for the MR.

I called my local service center's delivery line by mistake, and he was able to inform me that I have a VIN for that car.

It seems that my order change went nowhere for almost six weeks. This is why I saw neither changes online nor the email announcing no LR's with white interiors.

I am on hold on the delivery line for an estimated forty minutes. The specialist I talked to on Friday seemed to be have the power to change my car. Maybe another one can get this show on the road.

Forgot to mention. After a few crazy days, I took delivery of a LR in Deep Blue Metallic, with Black interior, on 11.30, a mere 3 days after they sent the e-mail. My VIN is 125xxx. It had a few paint bubbles, a tiny nick on the steering wheel, and was slightly misaligned on the back trunk, but otherwise the car was flawless. I was surprised that it had that few defects (kind of sad I guess), I didn't even notice the steering wheel nick until later in the day, and the paint until I got back to the Delivery Center to tell them about the nick (I was now in the sun, and it was easier to see)

Got my MSM LR RWD delivered last night to my home. Everything was smooth, delivery specialist was professional and courteous, nothing apparent was wrong with the car, and including the drive from Fremont to my home, there was 40 miles on the car.

But, a passenger restraint error came up on the screen soon after delivery, and apparently the car called home by itself as I got a call from the delivery specialist telling me they noticed the error on their end and he made an appointment with my local service center to get it checked out today. So service has been pretty good, except now I have to wait a few days before I can drive my M3 again while it’s in for service. :(

Ordered 10/15. Forced to change interior to black on 12/3. Today got a text saying 12/22 delivery. Vin is 062xxx . LR RWD . Excited to get a delivery date but am skeptical of low Vin.

Help me prepare myself

Just a note on the VINs, at least from my experience (and I got a Performance version with the Performance upgrade, not the off menu ones you guys are waiting for).

I was originally matched with a VIN for my P3D+ that was 140,XXX. It had a "birthday" that was the same day I placed the order for my car, which was 11/27, so it had JUST left the factory that same day but not matched to anyone. Blue with black.

Anyway, when I went to take delivery of the car, to cut to the chase, I ended up having to reject it due to it having issues I that are not necessarily relevant to this discussion. The delivery center happened to have another car with my exact same spec on hand not assigned to anyone and they brought it out to see if I was ok swapping to that one. It was basically perfect (no due bill at all, where the first one was going to have 6+ items on the duebill). Vin on the second one that I ended up accepting was 106,XXX.

Both cars have a vin sticker of 11/18, but tesla (either delivery specialist or your OA) can tell you the actual "birthday" which is the date the car was "born" or left the factory. The car I had to reject, had birthday of 11/27 and vin was 140,XXX, the car I accepted, had a birthday of 11/18 and had a vin of 106,XXX. Both had <15 miles (rejected car had 14, accepted car had 12). Neither had been rejected by anyone previously (I checked with a manager at the Tesla store I had become friendly with... my OA's manager as it were).

Moral of the story:

1. Higher vin doesnt necessarily mean perfect car
2. 10 days difference in production date and vins were 140,XXX to 106,XXX.
3. Lower vin doesnt necessarily mean rejected car

Order Date: 11/8/2018
Revised to LR: 12/7/2018
VIN Received: 12/7/2018
Delivery Date: December 14th
VIN: 123XXX

Originally ordered a MR with the same config on 11/8/2018, but decided that I'd prefer an LR if one could be found. Called customer service, they said "no way", called a sales advisor in Walnut Creek, CA and he was super helpful and found one for me in Fremont on 12/7/2018. Grabbed it, got the VIN on the same day, got the text today that delivery has been scheduled for Friday 12/14/2018.

First day reservation holder, but waited for white interior. After MR announcement, submitted MR /w white interior on 10/18/18. But with Elon's tweet, called and requested for LR RWD 10/20/18 and got email confirmation that my order change accepted on 10/23/18.

But week after week, online account continues to show MR and doesn't reflect off-menu change. Followed up multiple times (for actual order total to get ready for finance, insurance etc) with Tesla OA, all along OA keep saying that is fine, your order is for LR RWD /w white interior. and added that other customers also have similar issue, and that shouldn't be a concern.

But in last week follow up (as entered into Dec), called and emailed about delivery update and VIN. And was told that Tesla isn't making LR RWD /with white interior, frustrated and disappointed, not happy with Tesla on this.

Started reading this thread, and learned others are in similar boat and no LR RWD with white either was ever made or one got a VIN for it. Tesla should have upfront when off-menu order was approved. Not convinced that they can't make LR RWD + White int while they can make MR RWD + White int, they may have their reasons, but they should have set expectation straight from beginning.

Issue got escalated to store manager, and got two options 1) they found a LR RWD with black int and asked to go with that or 2) MR RWD + white interior by EOY with price match before MR 1k increase. But store manager is skeptical on EOY delivery.

Though wanted white int, but federal rebate is at risk. Selected LR RWD with black int on 12/6/18 and got VIN (12xxx, birth date 11/15) with home delivery of 12/10/18. Not exactly what I wanted, but I am good with it.

Anyone know differences in receiving car at home vs. receiving at Tesla store (in my case store is about 16mi)? I am fine with either way but anyone know, if one opted for home delivery, and if a paper requires to print or copy; or car requires a tune/quick-adjustment or need something that would have quickly done at Tesla location, will delivery person bring necessary tools/things/items with him/her or he/she takes customer back to Tesla store? Trying to learn how process works so can plan accordingly.

Regarding financing, I got a better rate than Tesla finance and approved. But when filling payment details on Tesla online account, found that they are offering interest rate match and will send diff as a rebate check. Anyone had any experience with this matching rate process, any recommendation?

I dont think home delivery person is fixing ANYTHING, from what I read here. If you are 16miles away I would DEFINITELY take delivery at the delivery center. Will give you a chance to inspect car, them to correct anything you find that may need to be corrected, and produce a due bill if not etc.

The only reason I can see to take home delivery is that you simply can not get to the delivery center in a reasonable timeframe. My delivery center is 55 miles away for example and it just made for a nice drive home to enjoy my car. If I had taken home delivery of my original vin I might not even have the car yet as I had to refuse that one for a bunch of issues found, and the delivery center happened to have my same spec in stock not assigned and swapped me into that one.

That aint happening if I took home delivery.

I would definitely choose the store delivery if I had the option, your paperwork will be completed much faster. I waited an extra 3 weeks to get my car because of it I'm pretty sure. I called the closest Tesla store to me the day of Elon's Tweet and he happened to have a black LR RWD in a nearby "staging" facility he could get me... I got cold feet and didn't order that day in the end. Fast forward a few weeks and had made up my mind, so I thought what the heck, I'll call the guy again! He found another car - so I put down the deposit and ordered a LR AWD per his instructions (with same wheels and colour). He manually changed to the RWD, and I had an email from the Delivery Specialist the next day - "we matched your car!". Did the ensuing paperwork that day, but then became stuck in "drafting contract" limbo.

Initially the Delivery Specialist offered a delivery date the Friday after I ordered it, but wouldn't pay to fly me to Vancouver (which would have been cheaper than shipping the car to Nelson) - company policy apparently. Said it would only take a few days longer to get Home Delivery. "Sure ok, why not." I'm anxious to get the car as I have a road-trip planned for the following weekend and really didn't want to take the gasser now that I have a long-range EV on the way! All week I kept getting told "tomorrow", then the following week it was "imminently" - then I had a VIN and a "delivery date"on the following Monday Nov 26 for that Wednesday. I'm thinking "great I'll get contract Monday, sign it, car here on Wednesday"... nope, contract Wednesday. Ok still time to get it here by Friday, but it'll be tight as I need to leave at noon. But, they somehow managed to screw up the term length, even though I had to confirm my term length (and other info) three times in My Tesla. Why include this info in one part of your system if it won't populate the other part? Anyways, time kept dragging on, and still no revised contract on Friday. I send a nasty-gram on the weekend (I had been nice to this point), and on Monday the DA must have passed it on to the Contracts group, because they had it fixed that afternoon. Scheduled delivery on Wednesday Dec 5 and it showed up Friday Dec 7, just in time for another road-trip (which I just came back from, and it was marvellous!)

TLDR; I could have had my car Nov 16, instead got it Dec 7 because they prioritize in-person delivery paperwork over home delivery, at least in part. I also live in Canada, so they might also be prioritizing US sales, with the rebate halving after Dec 31. Hard to say for sure.

Lastly, I have 3 minor issues with trim and such that could have been fixed at a delivery centre I believe. Now I'll have to either wait for a Ranger or my next trip to Vancouver to get rectified.

Thanks for the response. I changed to take store delivery.
But Tesla just updated me that delivery is changed to 12/20 not because of delivery change home->store, but because they couldn't deliver. Not so thrilled about it, but hoping for smooth delivery.

Thanks for the inputs. Though late, hope you are having fun with your new M3. I did opted for store delivery but before that they changed to 12/20 now due to their side of reasons. Bummer, but hoping no further delays.

I have good news and bad news. I was able to speak with a delivery advisor which assigned a known long range real wheel drive white vehicle to my order as of Friday.

That bad news is my lingering order change request appears to have been processed tonight. My account now shows it has been updated to a mid-range real wheel drive, which is not what I want at all.

Yes I am enjoying it now that I have it :) Especially the part where I don't have to spend 30 mins walking to/from my car each day to charge it at work!

They pulled in delivery and went yesterday to tesla store to pickup the car.

But the car got washed/wiped with a rag or cloth that made excessive swirls not just one place but all over the car. See the attached pictures showing level of lines/scratches/swirls. Because this issue delivery didn’t happen.

It is almost end of the year and they didn’t offer a solution other than buffing and take as is. Now I am stuck. Does anyone had this situation? How did it got addressed?
