I begin to wonder if the difference between those of you who get issues with this vs. those of us who don't think it's crazy dangerous is the follow distance setting.Yes - I understand what you're saying but I'm saying these are outright hard decelerations out of nowhere. I have slammed the brakes a few times for deer and to try the BBK out... very aware of the difference between phantom braking and gradual Autopilot braking.
I keep mine at 7 most of the time. When it's rush hour I set it to 5 to encourage people to stay out of my lane. I don't live in LA so I don't use the settings below 3 EVER, I think you need to be more on top of the traffic situation than I am comfortable with to use those settings. I wonder if you guys are just setting the AutoPilot up for failure.
I did have my car slow dramatically this week and watched the cars behind me run for the shoulder to not hit me, but haven't had this happen in a phantom sitch
