Right now, I can not recommend the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4s. They have a constant hum/howl sound from 40 - 75mph. It is loud and very annoying.

After my post yesterday where I mentioned I was running All seasons, another Plaid owner PM'd me and asked me if I was hearing a hum/howl at the same speeds I was. I only had about 10 miles on them yesterday, but today I put 135 miles on them and that howl is definitely a deal breaker. I'm hoping break in after about 500 miles fixes this, but my hopes are not high.

The other user that reached out has had them longer and taken it to both the SC and his tire shop. This is what they told him:

"the combination of specific width of wheels and tires on these tires is creating a resonance due to wind channeling in the pits thats creating the noise. There's little we can do about it except going narrower or stretching out the tire more"

I have an appointment with the SC in a week for alignment (my steering is slightly off center, from day one) and height adjustment/settings for 20" rims running the tire sidewall that I am. I'll post back if that solves anything.

Besides the howl, the tires very good and really grippy. I did a few 0-60 launches today and consistently got 2.32 - 2.35 on uneven road with barely any slip (285 fronts and 305 on rear). They are also fairly quiet above 80+ and on good condition roads, otherwise you will hear everything.
Do your tires still howl?

Brushed triple black !! Can there be anything more bitchin than those? And I thought my Titanium 104’s were the ultimate.

Yes, but only around 50-60mph. It’s annoying and I won’t be buying these again. Next set will definitely have the foam for noise suppression like stock
My 19” summer Pirelli’s occasionally howl too. Has to be just the right speed, temp, tire pressure and road type. It’s done it like 2-3 times in 2300 miles. It’s funny both times it was when my wife and dogs were with me too. Maybe load matters too :) they all weigh 180lbs combined. Both times were also hot out and tire pressures were up to 48 psi (42 psi cold).

Oh I’m curious what your exact setup is.

19” stock staggered?
Arrow covers on?
Plaid or LR?
Tire pressure?

None of those things may make a difference, but just curious how close you run to what I plan to run. And it so happens my Pirelli’s occasionally howl too. Not enough to be of concern though.

The reason I ask is I just bought a members wheels with those tires. I’m pretty happy with the Pirelli’s. But with such short tread life I’d probably not buy them again. The Michelin PS AS4 looks like the best option after a lot of research for my needs.

Crossing fingers they don’t howl badly on me. The Pirelli’s howled at 65mph for me.

Signature sv103 20x10 (285/35) and 20x11 (305/35) on a Plaid

N2utive links put on last week (-5 front, -6 rear) - no difference in howl
