Those who wonder what it takes to make sure the fitment is spot-on and the options you could do on the new Model S Platform.

1. Initial measurement
2. fine measurement
3. build the demo
4. test fitting
5. perfect fitment. (Result)

The new model S got a lot of potential on some wide setup; so far, the widest we could put on the rear is 325 width with a 12” wide wheel. It will fit perfectly flush with minimal to no poke.

We also come up with few options that focus on efficiency and balance.

I'd love to see the 20's installed on the refreshed Model S - either LR or Plaid. On my 2016, unless you install a lowering kit, there is a tad too much gap between the top of the fender and the tire. Here is mine with 255/35/20 front and 285/30/20 rear

New Model S come in 265/35/21 (265/40/21) up front, the wheel gap look perfect at low setting.

Model S Plaid 20x11 flush fitment at medium setting (Rear) :
Front wheel gap with 20" at low setting.

So the width in front from the pic above is 295? You were able to fit a 295/35/20 in the front without any problems? What about the rear - is that the one in the video above? What size is that rear tire?

Front and rear is both in the same size. 20x11 with 295/35/20.

The front fits, but it has some poke and the cleanance is very tight from the control arm . (Not the fitment for everyone) . Based on our measuemnt and test fitting, the widest front without any poke would be 10.5J with 285 tire. (With proper offset of course)

Beisde all the measurement, we also spent good amount of $$ on building demos in various of spec just to ensure we can the fitment spot on for the new LR/Plaid owner.

The result is well worth it.

More video of the clearance for the inner:

SV801 20x11 with 295/35/20

SV701 20x11 wheel along with higher offset. (limit reached)

Do it once,
Do it right,
Do it Signature.

Thanks for clarifying. So what about the rear, can you not go wider in the rear than 295?

Good question you brought up. Based on our measurement, 12J with 325 width tire is doable on the new Plaid S and the fitment will still be flush with barley any poke!

Since it’s gonna be very tight clearance, we got a single demo wheel in production now in 20x12 just to confirm. Should be ready in about a week or so.

With that being said, you could fit 295 up to 315 without issue. (325 still need to be confirm)

This wheel gap looks perfect to me. Symmetrical around the whole wheel. I hate when the fender is sitting right on top of the wheel and the sides have a big gap. It makes the car look like a ghetto low rider imo.
