Right now, I can not recommend the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4s. They have a constant hum/howl sound from 40 - 75mph. It is loud and very annoying.

After my post yesterday where I mentioned I was running All seasons, another Plaid owner PM'd me and asked me if I was hearing a hum/howl at the same speeds I was. I only had about 10 miles on them yesterday, but today I put 135 miles on them and that howl is definitely a deal breaker. I'm hoping break in after about 500 miles fixes this, but my hopes are not high.

The other user that reached out has had them longer and taken it to both the SC and his tire shop. This is what they told him:

"the combination of specific width of wheels and tires on these tires is creating a resonance due to wind channeling in the pits thats creating the noise. There's little we can do about it except going narrower or stretching out the tire more"

I have an appointment with the SC in a week for alignment (my steering is slightly off center, from day one) and height adjustment/settings for 20" rims running the tire sidewall that I am. I'll post back if that solves anything.

Besides the howl, the tires very good and really grippy. I did a few 0-60 launches today and consistently got 2.32 - 2.35 on uneven road with barely any slip (285 fronts and 305 on rear). They are also fairly quiet above 80+ and on good condition roads, otherwise you will hear everything.

Here are some photos of SV104 on my car taken on my phone when doing some errands around town. 😊

The other user is me. 😊

Thanks for posting about this, @OCS300 ! Hope this helps other folks make tire decisions.

The hum/howl is distinctive enough from what would be considered "normal" loudness from the hard compound of an all season tire. And once you hear it, that's all you'll hear! Lol

It's a shame too, because these are hella great tires - probably the best performance all seasons out there.

I am inclined to believe the theory of going narrower will solve this because a 3rd TMC member has 20x9 with 255 and 20x10.5 with 285 and they've confirmed to not have this issue.

Seems to only be caused by the front then? since they have a wider rear.

Sad to hear because I ordered 265/40/20 as4 square for whenever my s comes

So does this hum/howl also includes the 19” Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 setup? I have a set on order from Signature Wheels. Front: 255/45ZR19 104W XL and Rear: 285/40ZR19 107W XL On SV104 19”x 9.5 and 19”x 10.5 Wheels. Is this just an issue on 20”?

Michelin AS4 are one of the most grippy all season tire you can purchase, and some owner has no issue. Howver, because the percentage of owners who experience in hum/howl noise are getting higher, will lead us to not recomened the tire from this point.

Keep in mind Michelin Tire offers 60 days satifiaction program. Please contact the retailer or tire shop you purchase the tires from and have them issue the exchange. Some shop might be not willing to do it first, so small push is necessary.
