With the announcement that all new Tesla's will be LOSING autopilot function for the next 3? 6? 12? Months, let's take a moment to remember how great we have (had) it.
We paid 2.5k...not 5k or 8k for something that will be released some time next year. They can't be specific on the schedule because no one really knows for sure when it will be working. Leon must not have much experience dealing with the federal government. (must be a guy at space x that handles that!). One of the questions asked in the media call revealed that Musk hadn't even considered that with regulatory approvals needed, they wouldn't be able to just casually push out updates that break half the functionality and make major changes to the UX...won't be like the good old days
To be clear, there will soon be better capability than 7.1. It's much less clear if that will be Tesla. In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy effortless road trips and highway commuting while the poor bastards in Hondas and AP 2.0 equipped Telsas have to drive themselves.
