    More oil has been dumped on the land from folks who change their oil than from any oil spill. But, when oil is dumped 5 quarts at a time, no one notices.

    That's because while it's still bad, it's not as bad. Dilution is the solution to pollution.

    Well, that's true for biodegradables like oil. Doesn't work so well for heavy metals.
