Relax everyone. Ordered my now sold mid-range Model 3 last year on Oct 21 and got it on Nov 30. There was so much madness before year end for $7500 credit. Granted Europe demand is there now, but they will deliver most vehicles ahead of time.

Funny thing is that from Jul-Sep(Q3) Tesla has so many in stock, you could on same day,.

I'm not a huge fan of Tesla Customer Service, but I will say that it seems that they are trying to improve the accuracy of delivery estimates this quarter compared to last quarter. Last quarter, all the estimate I ever had when looking online was "within 2 weeks". Unless something catastrophic happens, you WILL get your car before the end of the quarter. Tesla has every incentive to deliver your car before the end of the coming quarter (12/31/2019) to come up with the largest delivery numbers possible in order to satisfy its shareholders.

How long did it take you all for a SA to be assigned? I ordered online over the weekend w/o going to a physical location-- have heard various accounts of SA assigned within days and sometimes months later. I am happy to wait, I am sure they are slammed, but wasn't sure if I should be expecting someone or even if I should call the closest store to inquire about one.

Mine called today, about 12 days after placing my order.

I got and email from my Sr Delivery Experience Specialist the next day but I also ordered over the phone with a sales person who I took a test drive with at a local Tesla sales location in Highland Park IL which is north of Chicago.

My best advice is to call Tesla since they don't proactively reach out or update information online. Looks like you are in Madison - how are you planning to take delivery? Since you are within 160 miles of the sales locations in Highland Park, IL and Schamburg, IL do you have to pick it up at one of those locations? Maybe calling one of those sales centers would provide you with more insight.

The people at the Highland Park location have been helpful to me. They don't always receive a lot of details about the timing until a VIN number is assigned but they have answered all my questions about the car itself and general details about how delivery works. My SA also helped me use a referral code which I forgot to provide when I placed the order. Nice to not miss out on 1000 free supercharger miles and a chance to win a Model Y or Roadster (If you need a referral code here's mine nancy38065) They encouraged me to call them frequently to check if a VIN number was assigned to my account. Once that happens they said delivery is usually within two weeks.

Good luck.

Hello guys,

Thanks, this was super helpful. Yup-- in Madison so am going to drive my current car to the Schamburg location and trade it in for the Model 3. Just spoke to someone there who wasn't super helpful, but not because they were rude or anything, they just know about as much as we do. He said a SA will be assigned once a VIN is generated so to hang out until then. I will keep calling every week or so to see if a VIN is assigned, but going to plan on it taking a while.

Most people (including me) who ordered in late September to early October were estimated delivery within 2 weeks. Few of us have received our cars and I think many of us have already waited 2-3 weeks longer than what was estimated. Who knows how delayed they will be by the time they are delivered. I wish they were arriving early!

Sadly it seems Tesla HQ doesn’t do a good job of proactively sharing information with their stores or customers. If feel a bit bad for their sales and delivery folks.

You can also check if a vin has been assigned to your account by logging onto the page where you manage your order and searching the page’s source code for 5YP which is what Tesla VINs start with. Once you see a Vin there it should arrive soon.

My SA did the same thing, but I was unable to confirm anywhere in my account that the 1000 free supercharger miles were actually applied. Do you see that in your online account? For people who used a referral code without applying it after the fact, where do the SC credits normally appear?
