Once get VIN, could I delay the delivery for 1-2 weeks?

Why ? I must pick up my car on certain date? Ppl has live to live with not only for Tesla.
Not sure exactly why.. but i have read and pretty sure i even watched a video that said Tesla will not let you delay delivery.

As i recall, if you cant make your delivery date, they will assign the VIN to someone else and you will have to wait for another to fit your specs. ( they dont want to hold on to a bunch of vehicles).

This is anecdotal evidence though and I hope it's not true...

Yes, you should be able to delay delivery of the car, within reason. Anecdotally, I have heard they will hold a given car/VIN up to a week. Anything beyond that and it may take some time to get another VIN assigned and arrange delivery. Definitely contact Tesla if your trip is coming up soon.

I am in a similar situation. I ordered on 3/23 and had not received a VIN by 4/20 so I called Tesla to let them know I would be out of the country for an extended period starting in early May. The delivery specialist indicated that if they could not get my car to me before my trip, they would reassign my initial VIN (which was issued earlier today) and get me another car later when I was able to take delivery. The exact timing of the 2nd VIN and delivery is unclear at this time. I would not expect them to cater to your timetable.
 
As topic, the reason is that I may be traveling in the time when I suppose to getting my VIN and delivery.

You should be fine. For me, it took a little more than 1 week for the "Inside Sale Advisor" to call to arrange for financing, check documentation, etc. after I see my VIN on the website. During my initial conversation with her, I explained that I have an upcoming vacation and she entered it into the system. From the time she called to the time the car arrived at the delivery location is about 1 week. When all the required documentation is complete, she then work with me to find a suitable delivery appointment.

So, bottom line is to get your documentation and financing ready so you can get it all squared away before your trip. He or she will then work with you for the best time to pick up the car.
