One Hint at the Cost of Li-x Batteries

This is a pretty nifty youtube of a fellow who built a battery generator and it is very much worth watching for that, but I mention it here because he bought 3.5 kWh of batteries for $200, or $57 a kWh.

Is that anywhere near what a battery manufacturer sells batteries at in volume orders ? I really am not sure, but it made me think that we are fast approaching the stage where the major costs are the packaging and assorted electronics and cooling, and not the batteries themselves

those do not seem to be new new cells, although they may be unused, (ie excess stock etc)

their new cells Genuine Lithium Batteries for DIY Projects are around $200/kWh

why recycle? when there is reuse instead.

The Now You Know channel's Electric Conversion Workshop videos mentioned purchasing cheap 18650s that were back-up batteries from old modems.
