I picked up my model 3. I went to an otherwise abandoned building behind the pawn store parking lot, waited for an hour, chatted with a few guys that look just like me, spent about 20 minutes on paperwork, and drove off with Tess. It was one of the strangest transactions of my life.

I traded in a perfectly good, healthy 2015 Leaf. Great car, but it's no Tess. About 2 minutes was all it took to make that call.

Now: 11,942 miles. I'll get another 20 before the day is done.

Battery rated range is now 248 which is down 5% from the original 260. This is very consistent with the majority of reports of the MR and LR that I have seen. Like many others, I observed that change over the summer. It's a little disappointing but not debilitating. I know all the debates and how batteries work, I know how to 'rebalance', etc... I want my car to be perfect. Enough about that.

Never been to the SC or needed any attention. This thing has been a rock. Best update by far was the 5% power boost and the auto hold, I never use the games, only the Santa mode sometimes.

I just freaking love this car. Everyone else loves the car. Its both fun and serious. I am equally a tree-hugger and an enthusiast. I want the best of both. I have ti. No excuses or caveats.

I hope everyone else feels the same.

Happy Holidays.

I was in the back lot of a grocery store. Yeah talk about untraditional way to receive a car! Were you in the same situation where their delivery truck was too big to make turns in neighborhood roads, so you had to meet up at some nearby parking lot?

The delivery guy actually drove my old car as I drove the Model 3 back to my house. Then he got in my Model 3 and I drove him back to the grocery store. Will never forget that, along with the crazy grin I had on my face driving Model 3 for the first time.

Tesla of Raleigh took over the parking lot and the abandoned building which looked like it could have been a large repair shop or truck rental, I don't know. There was no signage and very few chairs. There were probably 50 Teslas waiting to be picked up and a car transport semi parked on the side of the road waiting to be unloaded. There were more people in the pawn shop I think. Strange, but it worked. I hope someone got rewarded for their ingenuity.

Yep, one year and 6 days is when I swapped my 2016 Chevy Volt for my Model 3, at a rest stop with zero SOC. Home Delivery couldn't get to my home so met me at a rest stop. Had no charge so I pushed it back on the car carrier. Took it to a supercharger. Amazingly, it survived its trauma and has no deg that I can tell. 310 miles, and I still have never talked to anyone at Tesla. Everything was done via 13 emails. The SC is 3+ hrs away, so I'm not inclined to stop by and chat, and haven't had a need for a Mobile Ranger to visit.

wow, that's a heavy car. How hard was it to push back on the carrier ?

LOL, it made up onto the loading ramp before it died. The ramp is kind of flat, so you can get some momentum and then use that to make it up into the carrier.

Here's a pic of the car being tied down, as we take it to a supercharger. The crazy thing is the driver said he loaded it with zero soc, in the morning. It's winter and I'm the last delivery of the day. It's been on zero all day.

And, here, it's connected to the supercharger with zero soc. You can see it's new with the glovebox tag and plastic on the visors.

I got handed the 2 keycards, signed a piece of paper, and that was it. 3rd-party driver can't do much for you, other than take it back.

Glad to hear about your experience. I also drove a Leaf (2011) before the Model 3. It was a world of difference, but it was a even bigger difference compared to my Maxima, where the acceleration, braking, and handling all felt clunky. I was just as happy the day I sold the Maxima as the day I got my Model 3. No more going to the gas station!

Over 1.5 years and 20k miles, I only kept the car charged at 75%, and I haven't noticed any degradation yet, but at 320miles range I really don't care if the battery is to lose some range. The driving experience and all the new toys just trump any potential shortcomings.

Today I saw a tweet with a photo of Andrew Yang and Elon Musk, and Andrew thanked Elon for "all that you do - you lead us all to think bigger". Some guy actually replied saying "meaning making billions of $$$ selling $50,000 EV and providing access to space for other billion dollar companies?". That infuriating comment was definitely from someone who never drove a Tesla. (and don't know about the mission statements of Elon's companies)

Wow, that’s a hell of a way to start this journey
