The 15the was the second birthday of my wife's Model S! It was raining like it was the day she got it. Here in CA, that's a real good thing this year!

I was in the wrong mood the night I was getting attacked on FB for that picture and I was replying a lot. Normally I don't do that but they caught me on a night when I let myself be bothered by the trolls. Ugh!

Just to balance those posts, may you live forever! We love you and what you do for us!

And besides: deep in their hearts they know you are right. But are afraid to change their ways. They will come around eventually... .

We keep rooting for you!

Well one year since the 85D arrived came and went on the 18th with ~33k miles. It got a celebratory bath a couple days later, slightly delayed due to our weather.

I like that you had the "brass" to have that front plate mounted!!1 Hooray for you!! (and me) !!

Bunch of wussos don't want screws in their nose cone (they got 'em loose elsewhere) ... Boo Hoo!

Three years ago today I picked mine up! I took two weeks this July and drove from MA to CA and back. (I took the factory tour.)
Two weeks was not enough to stop and see everything I wanted to. I ended up going through Death Valley in the early evening. As I was driving through, the full moon was rising.

Today is the 4th anniversary for my Tesla Model S! Mileage is 44,752 which is a little below 12k / year.
We are still so in love with the car we fight over who gets to drive it. My son has a reservation for a Model 3.

When my wife got home today she noted that it was raining 4 years ago when she drove the car home from the Fremont factory just like today! No pics today because of the rain!!!

In 2013 we drove it across the country, from SF Bay Area east to Kansas City for a total of 5540 miles in 21 days.
That was with only 4 superchargers and LOTS of RV Parks!

This year on the July 4th weekend we drove it to the "Lost Coast" (Shelter Cove) for my kids to do a backpack trip. There are very few
high power chargers in that area. The RV Park we stayed at had on 110V charging available for us. We drove to the North tailhead and back to the RV Park. On the way back we had only 7 rated miles left until the final downhill back to the RV Park! Then charging 15amps at 110V for 2 days. Just barely got enough charge to make it back to the supercharger at Ukiah. Pulled in there with less than 30 rated miles left.

Of note, when we first got the car, I saw a rated range as high as 268 miles one time. After the trip this year I saw rated miles of 261. That means in 3.5 years we only lost 7 miles of rated range!!! Haven't charged to 100% recently. Thanks Tesla, that's fantastic battery life!

@NikeWings without getting into details, it was a 1 vehicle involved accident. Airbags went off and it was terrifying but all occupants are okay. My wife was 17 weeks pregnant and both her and the baby were okay.

This was on 19 November and im still waiting on my insurance to decide to total it or go ahead with repair. No structural damage every front end panel needs replacing plus the windshield.

Curious if im getting my car back or needing to order a new one. Id consider CPO and inventory cars to hopefully find my clone car

This seems like the best place to post about my one year anniversary. By the numbers:

Tesla Model S 90D, pre-refresh aka fishmouth
  • miles
    • at delivery: 11
    • total driven: 19k
    • while commuting: 13k
  • RM at 90% SoC: 257
  • total MWh used: 5.9
  • average Wh/mi: 310
  • charging at home mph: 18
  • supercharger visits: 17
    • lowest RM on arrival: 9
    • most kWh used on arrival: 70
  • bad supercharger experiences: 2 (Dublin and Burbank)
  • camping trips without destination charging: 1
  • software updates: 9
  • visits to service center: 3
    • for HW1 replacement cameras: 2
    • "annual" 12.5k service: 1
  • independent- or self-service
    • tire rotations: 2
    • dents removed: 1
    • Rexing cameras installed: 2
All the energy and distance metrics came from the car's displays. Normally I have the display set to percent instead of RM — but I figured someone would ask about the 90% if I didn't post it.

One more number: 5 tons of carbon not emitted. That's based on my last car's mpg for the same number of miles, as ICE emissions; minus EIA numbers for California grid electricity. With 100% renewable I could have claimed almost 7 tons.

[Thought I would bring this thread out of retirement even though it's in the Model S forum. Too bad there isn't a place for General to all Tesla Vehicles threads]

It made me happy this week that Tesla has said the Model 3 only really needs to be serviced every six years, as long as you are on top of the tires and brakes, right around the time I was considering taking it in for its first annual checkup.

Well, it's going to be raining tomorrow on my first Teslaversary so I am not going to polish the car to take a photograph then. So I instead post my favorite photo I took during the last year of the two vehicles I spend the most time taking pics of. I must say I am surprised how little I have driven the Sprinter this last year. I moved the mattress topper from the front bed in it to the back of the Model 3 and have spent many a comfortable night at a casino or whatnot filling my battery for free while I slumber. In the morning I flip up the back seats to hold my pillows and blankets and bathrobe and PJs, put my dirty clothes in the Framper and I am off for another day of driving.

I haven't done a ton of road trips so far, but in the first year I put nearly 28K miles on the new car and in trying to visit as many Superchargers as I can I have hit up 135 as of my Yosemite trip this week. I LOVE how this car drives, but even more, I love how this car drives itself. Although the wife did ask recently what I want her to do if she sees me sleeping behind the wheel so as not to cause me to panic, not really a discussion that has to come up in other vehicles. I truly love arriving w/o the stress of the miles. Coming home the other night from LA the car suggested I drive from Santa Nella to Gilroy on the way home. It was well out of my way so I ignored it to my peril. Ended up only being one lane going into SF from the Central Valley that night. But heck, flip on AutoPilot and let it to the keeping up with traffic. I felt SO BAD for the Semis around me, revving up and then slowing that huge mass over and over.

I also had the car customized so I could pick it out of a lineup and added a self-balancing electric pogo stick from Kiwano.co that rides behind the front seats that I use as a final mile solution. You may have seen the GIF if it balancing that I have posted before.

So thanks Tesla for a real dream machine. So happy others are getting to enjoy theirs too.
