Not to negate someone else's experiences, but I don't know how anybody could possibly come to that conclusion. The initial rollout was shockingly bad...we've got a long ways to go, but also, we really have come a long way in the past year!

We all have selective memory and we almost always perceive our memories as being more positive than the reality was. No doubt that when we first got Beta we were WOWED.

Oh I was wowed alright - absolutely flabbergasted at how bad it was . Night and day vs. what we have now, as imperfect as it still is!

I would guess it's the opposite of that, as evidence of annual reviews. Studies show that reviews tend to favor recent events, as they are fresher in memory, and also tend to skew negative as those memories are more intense. Many organisations encourage self evaluations so that managers can be reminded of positive contributions over the entire year.
