Well it has now been about 1 years since I got my Model 3 LR and I noticed I had also hit 10,000 miles.

I thought I would share my complete costs so anyone making the same journey can understand the costs in front of them.

In Summary:
£3,663.21 before I got the car, including; Deposit / Accessories (Lots) / Insurance / GAP Insurance / Breakdown Cover.
£137.05 in supercharging (on a few road trips)
£311.24 in normal charging (mostly on 5p/kWh on Octupus Go)
£11,224.52 in Tesla Loan Payments

Giving me a total of £13,695.81 @ £1.33 per mile

This cost per mile is slowly going down over time, but as it is dominated by loan payments I'm not expecting it to reduce significantly until after the loan is paid off. IT would of been lower but I went on holiday back end of July for 2 weeks, so had less miles than I otherwise would have had.

I wonder how this compares to other peoples experiences?

My biggest cost is depreciation.
My M3 LR has depreciated somewhere between £3-5K in 3 years and 25K miles.
Which is ridiculously low for a new car. Of course the fact that a new one now costs £11K more than when I bought mine might be a factor!
After that its fuel probably at £600-700 and tyres at around £500
and that's about it save for a set of windscreen wipers and a few pretty cheap accessories.

On a new car yes almost certainly.
Prior to the Tesla I was driving used Octavia VRS's diesels 20K miles a year. Fuel was my biggest cost.
Having said that if I had done all my charging at public chargers over the last 3 years fuel would be running depreciation a close second on the Tesla as well and at current electricity prices would be outpacing it.

OH bought her Model 3 LR in 2019 when there was still £3500 grant and before all the recent increases. Result was that she only lost around £2500 in depreciation - sold it last week to WBAC. For a new car to retain 95% of value after 3 years is bonkers!

Over those 3 years there was no servicing costs, no accessories (*) and almost all SuC free thanks to referrals. Even allowing for some home charging on Octopus Go total cost per mile was less than 14p. Compared to a similar performance ICE the M3 was effectively free as that would be cost of petrol 😀

* Free wheel cap kit due to delivery issue.

I can give you an idea based on my last M3 as a company car now gone
30k miles
3.5k Depreciation
4k other costs including public charging, tyres, BIK payment excluding insurance and charger

Overall cost per mile 22p

Perhaps an alternative way to compare would be to get a current estimate of the price now and how much the car has depreciated and use that figure

i do have a luxury of free charging at work.

so in 6 months I already did ~10k miles (extrapolated annual 20.5k miles) - and charging only costs are £0.03 per mile). It includes few superchargers I had.

would need to add my loan, insurance and deposit payments on top...

Thanks for all of the info. Amazing. I feel like our Tesla Model3, 2020, is being ignored by us--not much in the way of accessories. But we haven't driven it all that much. Just around 8, 00miles right now. Planning a few trips in the near future. What have you all added to help with softening the ride a bit? It really picks up all the bumps in the highways here in the Southwest US.
