Sadly, having it in writing still won't guarantee anything. They can just say that rep was misinformed and they will do better to train their reps in the future. That's what happened to me in another situation.

Also, a member here posted a screenshot where Doug Ford himself wrote that all orders placed before June 29th will be honored. We all know how that turned out...

Lastly, the troll was identified way back, bottom of page 134. =)
He's asking about the offer from Tesla. I think you are getting the ev rebate issue confused with his Tesla question.

I'm talking to Ontario Ombudsman, can you please send me your screen-shot where you asked Doug and his team about this incentive? If you can please provide the date please.
Here you go

Received a delayed reply from my MPP (PC) to my followup questions about lack of fairness and the unequal treatment.

“Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Our government’s approach is designed to provide fairness for Ontario taxpayers, while minimizing the impact on consumers who have received and plated their cars, as well as dealerships with orders on the way who claim the rebate on behalf of their customers. Tesla does not operate a dealership network and has never registered to claim the rebate on behalf of their customers.”

They all have the same wording.

Man, politicians can spin anything in their favor. Total cr&@p.
They could also bring back coal fired plants, and spin it as good for the people if they wanted.
They key here is to not vote in the wrong politicians.
That ship has sailed though, now that Ford is in... :(

As you can see from the many previous posts many of us have expressed our concerns about the EHVIP cancellation to the Ombudsman of Ontario. They welcome anyone who would like to contact them about the issue as they have opened a case file and escalated the issue because of the urgency.
I had a lengthy discussion with them today and they sent me this email:

“We have asked the following questions of the Ministry of Transportation”

a) Are you aware that customers who ordered Tesla vehicles before July 11, 2018 became ineligible for the EHVIP rebate as at July 11, 2018, unless they had received delivery (plus registration and plating) by that date; whereas customers who purchased non-Tesla vehicles from dealerships have until September 10, 2018 to receive delivery (plus registration and plating) to receive the rebate?

b) What is the rationale for the two different dates that apply i.e. July 11, 2018 for Tesla purchasers and September 10, 2018 for non-Tesla purchasers?

c) Is the Ministry considering measures to ensure that all purchasers of eligible vehicles under the now cancelled EHVIP Program are treated equally?

The MTO have further advised that individual complainants can escalate their concerns to [email protected] which will be monitored by the MTO for a coordinated response.

Reminds me of someone I once knew who faithfully recited the rosary in Latin, in support of their faith, never understanding a word of it or what was actually being said!

Also paying cash. No VIN yet.

Don't think so. I was registered to pay cash (see my sig for my order details). I got a call Monday from Tesla (Lawrence store) to confirm my order. I said I was looking into leveraging Tesla for the loan (separate correspondence). I asked "would this affect my delivery date?" and she answered "No". A day later, I was approved for loan.

Being super eager, I phoned Tesla sales Wednesday morning to get an update as she had not sent me an email confirmation, as promised. Tesla out of California said "well, you've got all green checkboxes, so you're good to go. The woman you spoke to is your Delivery Advisor. You should get your VIN sometime soon when the factory produces your car". It sounds like sales and production are separated enough that they can't accurately predict which configs they're scheduled to produce.

So, it seems like being on loan does not affect how quick you'll get your car. Other factors may be more important.

I did the "trick" to get my VIN faster as I have been waiting for my 3 for 2 years now. Anyways, the "trick" doesn't really work. Doesn't matter what payment method you are using, you get your VIN around the same time is what I have heard. Confirmed that I would be paying in cash on Tuesday (even though I am not) and so far I have not received a VIN. Really hoping I just didn't screw up my 3 order. Do you think it is possible that I can tell my delivery specialist (when I get in contact with him/her) that I will be paying with a loan through Tesla and not in cash?

The only issue with conducting a class action or single law suit is that you must prove you have damages.
For those of you that are going to continue with the purchase, you may be entitled to proceed with a class action. For those of us that will cancel or defer. We have no damages therefore we cannot be part of the law suit. Now if we lose our deposit then we can seek damages but for only the amount lost. opportunity costs are not damages. Good luck with the legal end of this but probably won't work.

Sorry

That's a good point. I assumed that those who proceeded anyway (me) were irrelevant because we obviously could buy an EV without the rebate - so we're not the target audience of such a policy. But that's a different question than if the government's action impacted us financially, which as you say, it did.
