Thanks, @Anto! Sorry, prematurely posted reply above...
I was going to reference the post by @1Step2NoGas suggesting that no new trims will be added to the EHVIP list (ie only LR+RWD).
My second clarification was: for those ordering their M3 this week in light of Ford's recent comments, what timelines have you been quoted for delivery?
Like many members here, I was gunning for the SR+AWD, but now it looks like (after a very long patient waiting game) I'm getting neither!
Thanks again!

No worries!

I had exactly this problem. I was originally holding out for the Standard Range in Jan, but then after seeing the possibility of 14K of rebates say bye-bye and the cost difference (with tax) being roughly the same, I figured I might as well suck it up and get the Long Range NOW.

I actually submitted the financing request Friday before the election and got approval and processed my order on election day (June 7th). I was called within an hour from an order specialist in Nevada saying that my time frame was "a few weeks" and that I had the option of International Centre (though thinking on this, that's Toronto, not Montreal) or home delivery as I'm in Ottawa.

Haven't heard a peep since.... and as you can imagine I'm getting quite anxious! 9 days to go until Doug is in office.

This all saddens me greatly. Like many others I have wanted a Tesla for quite awhile but could not afford the Model X or S. When the 3 was announced I put a deposit down right away. Invited to configure mine a month ago, but due to a lot of winter driving and a long commute on back roads I really want the dual motor AWD model. Can't afford the newly announced performance AWD version so I'm waiting for the regular one. By the time that is available I am sure the incentives will be gone and this will tip the balance away from affordability for me. Anyone think Tesla will make any adjustments in pricing to enhance sales if they drop substantially when rebates are eliminated? Or will they just accept that Ontario sales will plummet?

When you say sales will plummet, do you mean the line won't be as long? Right now there is still a large backlog for the car at full price. I don't think they'll be dropping the price.

Anyone know if I order today that I would still qualify for the EV rebate? And if not, can I get my money back?

I'm not sure anyone could definitively answer that question. We're at the mercy of someone that's on record to remove everything. Could happen as soon as next Friday. I would think there would then be details on the EHVIP website.

I've send an email to: [email protected] asking if they are cancelling the program, that they provide sufficient period of time to allow people who've already paid to reserve an EV an opportunity to participate in the program who's process they have already begun.

Wish me luck with that. o_O

As long as you are able to configure and get your confirmation sheet from Tesla dated before the program is cancelled, you should be okay. During the campaign, the PCs said they would honor applications submitted before the program gets cancelled. Putting your reservation deposit down is not enough because that is technically refundable. This is how it worked when I ordered my Model X on January 31st. I had my confirmation from Tesla sometime in February before the Liberals cut off cars over $75k in early March. I submitted that confirmation with my rebate application and my cheque showed up in the mail yesterday.

Is Doug Ford related to Rob Ford, and if so, why would yall vote for him? What was he promising? To make Canada Great Again? Did he win by pulling a con job on a bunch of angry gullible morons?
He's his brother. Most of us didn't vote for him. He got 40% of the vote. Rest was split between the two further left leaning parties.

Still.. don't know what that 40% were thinking.

Think of it this way. There is 0 chance of a EV incentive when SR are introduced. If you order now, you are guaranteed the EV incentive which will essentially pay for the LR battery after HST.

I don't think getting the rebate is guaranteed at this point. If Ford plays nice, orders that have already been placed will be grandfathered, but really there's no obligation on his part to honour the rebate. I'm at risk since I just placed my order this week.

Keep in mind that he won what would be the equivalent to your Jerry Brown though the similarities likely end there. His notorious brother was the mayor of Toronto and heralded backers known as "Ford Nation" who's votes surely were significant in putting Doug in power as well. Many feel he (and Trump of course) are populists. There weren't many great options and we needed a change. I tend to be conservative and we do need to get our spending under control (Ontario has more debt than California!) but just not at the expense of the environment which unfortunately will now occur. Though ironically we also voted in the first ever Green Party representative for the Province. yeah!

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out and in concert with our federal government which is currently liberal. As per this thread, EV rebates will likely be axed when he takes power next Friday and all other energy rebate programs have already been terminated including a solar rebate of $1/watt up to 10kW that was to launch this summer and now won't get out of the gate. (so for me it's a doubly whammy)

If EV rebates are predictably axed, we can only hope a federal program is started but I doubt that would be as sweet as the $14k currently provided. If nothing is available, I would imagine the vast majority of reservation holders would cancel. An optioned out Model 3 LR + 13% tax inches close to 80k. Not exactly within most people's reach and/or justification for a depreciating asset.

Though if a full blown trade war ensues (unlikely) it might not have mattered.
