Oops! Don't shift into neutral while driving

In case you were wondering, it is possible to shift into neutral while driving. I mistakenly pushed up the right stalk to indicate a left turn. That set off loss of power and noise and a red light on the screen. Am very glad I was not rear-ended.
Does any one know if the brake lights come on in this situation?

They shouldn't as you're not slowing down.

Note that pushing up the stalk by itself shouldn't have put you into neutral, you'd have to hold it there for 1 second according to the manual.

Well, you slow down when you lose power.
I might have pushed it up a second time in an (inappropriate) effort to get the left turn signal to turn on. My point is that that driver error can result in losing power. The good news is that pushing the right stalk down reestablished drive.

Nothing at like hitting the brakes or using regen. As a matter of fact, letting your foot off the gas in high gear on an ICE will slow you down faster and brake lights don't come on for that either.

Neutral disconnects the power source (battery) from the motor(s). This should result in coasting with no regen.

That's what I did. Not a good idea. Have to remember to use the "other" left.

No, because of your post I had to go out and try it for myself. Two quick upward presses all the way up do not put it into neutral.

and with the box in neutral slide into the queue using the least amount of brake effort necessary to arrive at 0 at the line.

Since I'm stubborn, I just tried this. This also does not take it into neutral.

I can confirm two half presses does something weird to power delivery (while doing the presses), but it never took it out of drive.

If you're on a slight incline, you can rock the car uphill and let it roll back just like a manual...so long as it's not on "hold".

If you push in the Park button while driving, it won't go into Park. Only when stopped. It says so in the owners manual.

Somebody try it around 50 mph and let us know if the owners manual is correct on this.
