Opening charge door via third party button

Apologizes if this has been done/posted already.

Has anyone set up a smart things or similar button to open and unlock the Tesla charger door? Google and search function failed me.

(I have a standard j1772 charger and it would be convenient).

Not the answer you're looking for directly but you can press lightly on the charge port door itself (bottom right) and it will open. You don't need that button.

Refinement I use the button on my tesla home charger. Everywhere else, i press on the door.

I always use the button on the Tesla cables (mobile connector, destination charger, supercharger ...). If it's a J1772 I open it from the screen and then do the stuff. It's very rare I touch on the door to open it.

Door is inconsistent imo. Hate getting the phone out to unlock. Makes me wish my electrician had listened to me and put in a 14/50 instead of hardwiring my blink charger.

The push-door-to-open doesn't work when the trapezoidal doohickey inside is missing. I lost mine many months ago and I really don't miss it. I use the button on the handle of the wand or simply open the door from the main screen before exiting the car.

Newer cars don't have the doohickey anymore. Now the motor geartrain detects the push much like the updated Model S door handles.

Car has to be unlocked for the push to work and that doesn't just mean that you need your phone with you - it actually needs a recent door event before the charge port will open (unless it's set to stay unlocked at home). But if your inconsistencies are not related to locking and you're pressing the bottom of the door firmly enough to move it, text service and have them fix it.

Or better yet, dump the blink on eBay and swap in a Tesla charger.
