Opinions about my battery pack health 2015 90D

Hi All,

2015 90D 88k miles here

Recently I was able to get into the battery diagnostics menu and took some snapshots at 40% soc and 100% soc (pls see attached). Just wanted to see what is your opinion regarding degradation and voltages.

I noticed BMB 6 is considerably higher voltage and BMB 13 is on the lower end.
Car has done approx 28000 kw AC charging and 1000 kw DC, so my assumption it has seen maximum 15 supercharging sessions, which is good I guess.

Pack degradation seems to be at 12%, which is kind of high considering the car was not supercharged a lot.

anything I should be worried about ?

How did you calculate degradation?
My January 2016 car was rated at 288 miles for 100%. It now gets 277 miles for 100%.

(288-277) / 288 * 100 = 3.8%
I just used new reported pack capacity of 76.5kw and divided it 86kw (initial pack capacity for 90 battery.

76.5/86*100=88.9 so the pack 88.9% of initial capacity. 100 - 88.9 = 11.1% degradation
 
I tried a few popular 5 digit codes but no luck. I guess the 5 digits I use on my luggage are too secure! Haha.
Anyone else know the code that could PM it to me? I would be interested in trying this on my cars.
If you are willing to share it with me I promise I won’t share who gave it to me and I wont post it.
 
Guys, it’s a 4 letter code, it’s unique to each car and changes frequently. The only way you can get it is when you do eMMC repair for your car, the repair person can provide it for you, or you have to have friends at SC. I did my eMMC repair recently, so this is how I got it, but the code did not last long as the car changes it time to time when connected to internet.

Can we stay on topic here pls, anyone knowledgeable has any comments about my battery health?
 
12% seem reasonable to me for 2015 90D 88k miles regardless if you're supercharging a lot or not. Frequent but shorter supercharging sessions are actually better for battery life in some data I've seen. I've 2017 75D 48k miles, degradation is approximately 8% so far.
 
I don't think OP was asking for a new battery.
That being said, I don't see anything surprising about your module voltages but am certainly no battery expert.
I am really not sure there is anyone with enough knowledge to say much about your battery except perhaps a few Tesla engineers that are sworn to secrecy. And would we really trust them anyway?
You have greater than average degradation and I think you know that. It isn't terrible but a bit greater than average.
I am about 8% with a 2105, 86k, minimal supercharging, 70 battery.

1000 kw DC is probably over 20 supercharging sessions. That one comment of yours is interesting. This is presumably not your car and you haven't owned a Tesla before?

Why is 11.1% rounded to 12%?

If I remember correctly, the 90s lost a lot of capacity originally and there were lots of concerns that this new pack would have longevity issues. Then it turned out they fared better than the 85s when it came to charge limitations and range limitations. So if we throw that in - that 90s lost a lot in the first year - say 5% - then your 11% sounds pretty good - roughly 1% per year. And really that is probably the average battery - 90s probably lost 6% first year and the others were more like 4%.

So I wouldn't have any concerns about buying the car personally if that is the question.
 
I have a Jan 2017 S90D with 54k miles.

Original range: 294
Current range: 265
Rarely supercharge and usually only charge to 80%.

Degradation: 9.8%

I have found that my total range calculation display can fluctuate after a long drive by up to 8 miles depending if i was driving high speed vs 55 on back roads. So sometimes my degradation reflects a smaller percentage.

I’m not concerned about my 10% since it hasn’t affected me any more than my gas mileage fluctuations due to roads driven/driving style.
