Opinions on Trading in 21 MS LR for 22/23 MSLR?

So, I literally just registered my 21 MSLR today. It’s a 9/21 build so old headlights, taillights, 13k on it, and no tilt screen. It’s white on black with FSD. Front bumper facade is chipped up and I was planning on fixing it up and XPEL Stealth wrapping soon.

I inquired with Tesla about a trade and they gave me an offer that would basically give me a 22/23 MSLR which I’d opt for MSM, black, and buy EAP later on down the road for a wash, and perhaps a few grand out of pocket.

What’s everyone’s thought on this? Stick with the 21 or order that 22/23? Just interested what some would due in this situation and understand this is a legit stupid real world issue. Ha!

Well, you will be out taxes as well correct? I would prob hang on to it, but thats me.....taxes alone would kill the notion of springing for a later model.

The state Im in (RI) gives the trade in value break on taxes, and also there is no “vehicle property tax” in Rhode Island any longer. Id be taxes only on the difference, so like 1k tops, if that.

i Would like the new features but the lack of radar scares me. I had vision autopilot on my last Y and I couldnt even use it due to the phantom breaking.

I doubt you could count on the trade value you’re being quoted now in 2-5 months when your replacement would be delivered.

Depends… inventory MSLR available today from dealers in Florida and NYC… depends what color he wants.

Right on point. I’d most likely get an inventory S when it hits. That is a fair point though.

Does the ‘21 S have radar and the ‘22 doesn’t? I’ve lost track. I don’t think it will matter in the long run, since radar will be disabled on all Teslas at some point.

The 21 for sure does. Not sure about the 22, but to be honest, thats not even a factor for me personally.
