Opinions / Thoughts on Model S CPO Purchase

The car has full self driving capability. The new buyer would have to purchase the ability to use it again.

Tesla advertising the car with FSD means it has FSD enabled as part of the sale. The new owner will not need to repurchase and they will be eligible for the 3.0 hardware upgrade. Looks like a solid deal for a P100DL w/32k miles with the only highlighted damage being on a wheel.

Like others said, the only thing I would consider doing would be the MCU upgrade at some point in the future.

I thought FSD stays with the car when resold by Private Party or Tesla, kinda like FSC.

Anyway, FSD was in the option list provided by OP.

Based on what I read here, better get it in writing and make sure it shows up in the account!

it says FSD “capable” not FSD enabled. Two very different words with very different meanings. a year ago I’d have agreed with you. Today I’d say to get it in writing that it is ENABLED from the deliver specialist. that way after the 30 days if it disappears you have recourse to show it should stay.

Good point, I agree it should be in writing.

Congrats on a silver car with a sunroof!

It's a great color for the Model S that is no longer available.Neither is the sunroof :(

Also you got a great deal! I'd add MCU 2.0 for $2,500 right away. It makes a big difference. Other than that maybe consider a PPF wrap at least for the front to protect the paint.

Yes, Plaid will be faster but seriously, that P100DL you bought is stupid fast. It's crazy how you can go from 25 to 60 in basically 2-3 seconds.

I would keep that car forever.

Quick follow up - my Tesla rep says FSD is in fact included - see screenshot. I will attempt to get this in “official” writing as well.

Oh man...I’m excited for you. That car will be bad ass...!

make sure you post up the whole car purchase or driveway experience. Most only complain about the bad but would be nice to hear the good too.

here’s mine...
Well, I did it...made the CPO plunge for a 2015 P85D!

Circling back on my experience. Total time from reserving the car on Tesla's website to picking it up was 10 days. The vehicle was already in Denver, so no travel or shipping. I hounded my rep a couple times to see if I could pick up earlier, but was told to wait. Once the SC reached out to me it went pretty quick - they informed me the vehicle was being moved from storage to the pickup location (Denver service center) on a Thursday, then pickup was scheduled for Saturday.

Pickup could not have been any easier - signed a couple of docs, wrote the check and was out of there in 15 mins.

Everything that was advertised (and more) came with the car:

Free Supercharging
Full Self Driving (no additional charge)
Free Premium Connectivity (thought it was only 30 days but have confirmed it is lifetime)
All-weather mats (not visible in pics prior to purchase)

I immediately tried to schedule an appointment to upgrade to MCU2 and HW3 but they arent ready for my VIN yet.

Car is in great shape, they actually did a good job highlighting the one minor wheel defect, the rest of the car is tip top.

Tesla could do a couple of little things to improve the experience - simple things like charging the car (I got it at ~30%), and doing a light detail.

Overall very happy with the car and my own experience - HPWC getting installed today.
