I don't see the June email as a delay (it is only 10 days away).
The July email is.
No company would send out an email like this if it wasn't a delay. ESPECIALLY Tesla, and especially given their track record of poor communication.

June people should consider themselves lucky.
No, they shouldn't. Tesla should consider themselves lucky that these customers are sticking around through all of this BS.

July people will have their car at the beginning of July (a month late) when delivery starts again.
Not even remotely possible. Logistical problems getting the cars to the DC's, DC's in many areas are already at max capacity.

Starting to feel like this is a money grab. They will be sitting on everyone's 3.5k for their 2Q balance sheet.

They don't really have incentive to do a "money grab" in Q2. Tesla has pretty much already admitted they will lose money in Q2 but will turn a profit in Q3. It is to their best interest to delay any income into Q3 and avoid money grabs.

Glad to see I am not the only person coming up on 7 weeks since configuration without a VIN

I'm with you, too. Ordered 4/4/18 just got the "almost there, June will.be magic" email. Oh well, another month is two more paychecks toward the car fund. Maybe I'll get lucky and we'll get a heated steering wheel.. ninja style.

In all seriousness, I'm a little bummed about the delay, but it's a few more weeks out of a 2+ year wait so I can manage.

4/6 invite and configuration.

I got the June email. This week is week 7....instead of a 3-6 week delivery window, I am looking at 8-12...eff Elon. I had a VIN and sold my car based on the delivery estimate and the fact that I had a VIN. I am not happy especially since this guy is talking about bricks.

I did not receive this email but I do have a June delivery scheduled. I think I was just one of the ‘lucky’ ones to make the cutoff before these new policies and actions took place. But I gotta say, knowing this new info, I saw the writing on the wall. Finally got my VIN last week & got super excited. Got financing done ASAP hoping to hear delivery would be within 2 weeks (as I’d heard was common length of VIN to delivery time). However when I did hear from my ISA with a delivery date, he started asking about dates in the second week of June. I honestly was really bummed. Obviously I’ve become pretty impatient like everyone else, so a 3+ week further wait sounded brutal. He kept mentioning further action would take place “7 days out”. Final payment should be made 7 days out, I’ll hear from my delivery specialist 7 days out, etc. So yeah I’m sleeping easier knowing I have a tentative delivery date, but I think I was one of the last to receive one with the “old” policy, as I feel like it was veiled with the new 7 day out + June delivery policy. Anyway, sorry further delays are happening with you all. But like everyone has said, at least the reasoning is for the best & they are making communication efforts. I’m just really tired of sharing a car with my wife so please god no more delays...

I do remember multiple threads last year including mine about the 200k delay.
Why are you so surprised?

My guess is everybody who have configured but have not received their VIN got an email.
Some said June (not delayed) some said July (missed the cut off).
I would consider myself lucky if my car was not delayed.

I don't have inside information on Tesla logistic problems or their max capacity.
Unless you do, those are very bold statements.

Invite 4/13
Configured 4/18 (late in day), blue, 18" w/AP and AD
Delayed until July
For me this is OK, as I am traveling a lot starting June 9 and was afraid my delivery would be scheduled while I was away.

I agree with the theory that they are managing to deliver as many cars as they can up to the 200K limit in Q2 to preserver the full Fed Tax Credit for Q4, and that the cutoff for Q2 delivery fell for configuations made sometime on April 18th.

I would be very curious if anyone is able to upgrade their configuration to AWD, and how that impacts the delivery date. I would consider doing so if I could be certain of still receiving the full Fed Tax Credit.

I also think the policy of not providing VIN numbers until they are scheduling delivery makes sense. There are really currently on 6 versions of this car, the 6 different colors. I expect the wheels can be swapped out at the last minute. So by holding off on giving out VIN numbers they are giving themselves much more flexibility to optimize delivery transportation logistics, i.e. they will fill a car carrier going to one region with cars even if that puts someone in that region a bit ahead of someone in another region who ordered the same color, but the next shipment to that region isn't close to full. That kind of thing.
