First, she reached out to ask if I could still take a mid-to-late Dec delivery, which I emphatically said, "YES" and replied that I needed to take delivery in Dec so I could use the tax credit in 2016. I then asked if if she thought that would be an issue but I haven't heard back from her yet. She's very prompt with replying to my email messages so I'm confident I will hear back from her on Monday.

My DS explained the process a bit to me. Production only takes ~4 days. After that they get the car ready for transport to your local DS. Depending where you are that can take up to two weeks. Once it arrives at your local DS they do an inspection which can take a few days. So basically after the car hits production you can get it anywhere from 2-4 weeks depending how far away you are from California. That is assuming all things go smoothly.

My MS is slated for production at the end of November. So right now that is the long pole in the tent. Apparently Tesla doesn't move the production dates up so there's not much to speed up the process.

What did your DS said? Mine kind of just ignore me.

Ok, I heard back from my DS today about the end of Dec delivery. I was kind of shocked when she told me this so you may want to see what you can find out on your end as well. She told me that even though my VIN was assigned on 10/26, my car wasn't schedule for production until late November if you can believe that. I was shocked, most everyone I've spoken with said that that their car went into production within 10 days of being assigned a VIN.

If you see my post a few before yours, you will see that my MS is slated for production in late November too. That's what is making the delivery take so long. After production you should get the car pretty quickly (2-3 weeks).

My order for a new MS was confirmed last night. The delivery date was updated to late December or January 2017. Any idea how realistic it would be to get the car in December of this year? Does Tesla ever deliver early? I really want to get the car in 2016 to claim the federal tax credit this year.
My Delivery specialist said on or about 12/26 for a delivery. My ordered confirmed on 10/26

For the P100D they are battery constrained. They won't start building your car until they have your battery about done. You can bet they want to deliver your car this year almost as bad as you want it:D. For other battery sizes they could bump up some cars if they think they can ship this year. For my first car I got delayed and others were bumped up to make the quarter. Some things never change.

Man, this is killing me! lol

Your DS should be able to tell you the date it's scheduled for production. I know mine gave me an exact date (which of course can move).

Here's a screen shot of what my DS sent me the other day.

Our order was confirmed October 18
Originally car was scheduled for November or early December, after adding enhanced auto pilot it changed to December
Then it changed back to November - early December
As of today it has changed again
Now December - early January
So who knows
I too would like to get the tax credit for this year
After reading this I decided to wait until after production to order the enhanced autopilot.

It should not change delivery date, since it is just a software switch. But why take a chance? I would like to get mine by the end of November since my current car lease expires at that time.
