Ordering TM3 in other EU now possible

To make it more visible, I created a new thread, referring to Tesla is breaking EU law for "other Europe" sales

I am from Slovenia and I have just placed an order in Austria. At least in Graz, Austria this is now possible due to my effort described in that post. They agreed to take every order coming from Slovenia, but you have to let them know right after the order has been placed via email! The directions came from Wien, Austria, so I guess it is now possible to do in entire Austria.
For Slovenians: ev-svet je slovenski forum, kjer sem napisal podrobna navodila

For Italy, Germany and other countries follow the guidelines in first post of the above topic and you can also succeed. For Members of EU countries, there can be no limitations!

I will appreciate it, if you use my referral link when ordering

Thank you.
I am "line waiter" from 31.3.2016. I have just send an order for Model 3 via CZ/SK Product Specialist in Vienna and used your Referral ;-)
I hope that there will be not many problems with Austrian VAT refund. Delivery is expected for August.

Thank you, I already see your order was accepted ;)

I am really surprised there are not much more orders, and no responses here. When it was not possible everyone was loud, now that it is possible, everyone is quiet

I think that everybody in Central/East Europe already know about this possibility but it is still far from normal order. There is also a big discussion at Tesla Club Slovakia, similar to your EVsvet about the Austrian Tax Refund. Nobody understand why is the Tesla refusing to sell Model 3 for export without the VAT, like it is with Model S/X from Tilburg. Everybody is afraid of double taxation and some guys have already ordered and got Model 3 from German re-seller without the VAT.

I am from Greece and also want to order Model 3.
i didn't put a deposit down yet....other europe you know...
Is there a chance for me ...or will i wait a long time? Is there something i can do?Do i have to take delivery from tilburg or can i take delivery from other country?

Regards to Slovakia! It has been almost a month since you placed the order in Vienna, any updates on the TAX refund? As for me, I reserved 4 days after the reveal and my delivery status still says EARLY 2019 :). Actually this is not funny anymore, at least they should refresh the info/estimate fo us waiting more than three years...

There might by two ways to do this EU VAT thing, but not sure, would have to check. I read somewhere that there is 1) the standard refund and then you tax back home according to your VAT tax policy, or 2) you pay full amount and you tax for the VAT difference, e.g. VAT in Germany is 20% and in the Czech Republic it is 21%, so you would pay the extra 1% to register the car in CZ. I read this somewhere, not sure if it is valid.

Net net, they should finally open Other EU for orders as guys from "preferred markets" that only reserved/ordered now, jump ahead of all of us that have been waiting that long. :-(

No, nothing new. I saw some pictures that some Slovenian already pick-ed-up their Model 3 from Vienna, so maybe they have some info regarding TAX refund.

I allready picked it up (with a friend, both Slovenians) from Viennna.
Payed the 22% Slovenian VAT again and registered it. We are allready driving for a week or two.
Currently we are in a process of refunding 20% Austrian VAT

Thanks a lot. What is the actual process for the VAT refund in Austria? Do you just go with Tesla invoice to a designated Financial authority office? THANKS! I might follow your foot steps, losing patience with my EARLY 2019 delivery estimate message grrrrrr.... :-(

We still do not know for sure what is the process. Will update everyone interested in this topic when thus process is over.

Austrian financial institute told me that Tesla must return it, so we are now waiting for them to reply. After one more week of waiting or if the reply is negative the ECC will get involved again.

So I checked with Tesla store in Berlin, where TM3 is considerably cheaper, than in Austria. Also in Germany, any EU citizen can buy the car, as confirmed by the email attached. However, also no VAT free invoice, need to claim VAT back.

Agree, received same answer from same manager. I'm from Latvia, I didn't early reservation but soon plan to make order. I also asked how to fill online form if you own a company, because online form currently allows to enter only german registration number. According to answer it is possible also.

I hope many of you will take this advantage and not waiting for Tesla to open store in your country. I am driving for a month now, close to 3000km and not regretting for a moment.

When ordering please use a referral link (mine or anyone else´s, just use one)

Renatomik, what about German VAT? did you get it back already?
I bought it in Austria and I am in the process now. Hopefully soon.

In Germany it should be faster and easier, as I heard you can make a claim at their state finance institute. I Austria, due to their local laws, Tesla has to return it, you cannot claim it at finanzamt, and we are still in "discussion" with Tesla AT.

I read about Germany car imports in more detail. Unfortunately, there is almost if not a zero chance to claim teh VAT back from the Financial authority. It is the seller, in this case Tesla, who should return to you the VAT paid, if they are not able to issue invoice without VAT in the first place. So in case of Germany, good luck with that. Seems like they a) dont have a process for it or b) do not want to bother... In my case, I am probably going to wait till Other EU opens or someone is able to claim the VAT back :)... According to the law, they should return it of you are able to prove that you registered, hence paid, the VAT in your home country. At least that is my understanding of the issue after studying it for few hours....

I really believe that Tesla doesn't want you to buy their cars in Germany as there they are for instance significantly cheaper than in the Netherlands. Correcting the price for VAT differences and local government discounts, there is a 6000 Euro price difference (Germany cheaper) for a model 3 AWD. But this will only work if you can buy a car in Germany without VAT or reclaim it back at the FinanzAmbt. But this is a very long and tedious process..

In this case it is same as in AT. Tesla refused to do so in my case, so I handed the case over to European Consumer Center and waiting their response. They already helped once, so I have no doubt they will do it again.
At the end, there are other legal options available if needed
