On the map from TsRocket...

Look at Idaho, Montana, (most of) Nevada, and New Mexico. Are they saying (via the gray dots but no red dots) that those states are like roach motels? You can get there but you can never leave.

I just returned from my second Seattle-Bay Area trip. What a difference the superchargers make! The trip required two days each way, just as it did in February. However, Day One on the trip down and Day Two on the trip back were both a piece of cake because of the superchargers. Not only could I skip about five hours of charging (I have a Roadster adapter and twin chargers; otherwise it would have been even worse), but I could also drive a lot faster.

Interestingly, however, the supercharger in Springfield probably would not have made much difference. The distance from Woodburn to Canyonville, where we stayed overnight, is about 175 miles, which is easy to do on a single charge. So unless we plan to drive straight through and not stop overnight, we wouuld probably skip the Springfield supercharger on future trips. We would also probably skip whatever supercharger will be installed in southern Oregon, since the distance from Canyonville to Mt. Shasta California is only about 160 miles. I do hope those NorCal superchargers get finished by Thanksgiving as promised, however.

To mee it looks like it also serves as access to 126 East/West, so a PDX'er can drive south on I-5 and reach Bend or Florence and back using it. Similar concept for the GP SC (199 south).

Wonder how the construction is moving on the Nor-Cal stations so we can open the "I-5 Tesla highway", maybe have a bunch of TM drivers open it up like the Bay-Bridge...

It seems they are stating you need to overnight charge at those places to keep going.... Destination charge = long stay...

Well, even people need to recharge their batteries. 20, 30, 40 minutes OK for cars, but people need to sleep.
Planning trip to SoCal end Oct, hoping to hit all superchargers available, and 70 amps, if chademos come out by then, that would be excellent news, the more options the better. Bring on the amps!

Well, I finally made it to the Woodburn supercharger. Sadly Eric wasn't in when I stopped there yesterday afternoon. I'm in Ellensburg now, stopping and charging overnight on my way home.

My stops on the way down to the Oregon coast were at Ellensburg, The Dalles, and Woodburn. Then I headed diagonally over to Seaside where we spent the night. We spent several hours in Astoria and then continued back to Centralia.

I used the J1772 chargers at Fred Myers at The Dalles and in Astoria. There was also a CHAdeMO charger at each of those locations. I'll be debating with myself about getting the CHAdeMO adapter. BTW, I didn't encounter a single EV at any of the charging stations we visited.

Believe me, I no longer have any range anxiety.

Weird. On my first trip thru Ellensburg this week, I had to wait about an hour for the Roadster charger. On my second trip thru Ellensburg, I witnessed two Model S using chargepoint (AFAIK neither had the Roadster adapter, so they weren't waiting for me).

Well, I'm charging overnight at a Motel (Days Inn). Last time I was through Ellensburg (right after Labor Day) no one else was at the Main St. chargers. I used one of the ChargePoint stations. Maybe it's the times I travel. Last night we decided to go directly from Centralia to Ellensburg. The traffic tie ups east of the pass weren't too bad, but I suspect they would have been if we traveled this a.m.

On my trip down to California, I did not encounter any other cars at any of the charge stations (two superchargers and three Roadster stations). On the way back, a Model S drove up about a half hour before I was finished charging at the Orland Roadster station, and I encountered three other Model Ss at the Woodburn supercharger.

Woodburn to Grants Pass is 214 miles.

Works for 85 kwh battery packs unless there is some elevation climbs there. I have not driven it yet, but I plan to early next year.

There are some elevation changes along there. I haven't driven that route for at least four years, but Grants Pass is at about 1100 ft.

For security, you might want to add some mileage at Canyonville. (Feather River Casino).
