Original delivery was 1-2 weeks, then suddenly 5-9 weeks

Anyone else have this experience?

I ordered December 15 and everything suggested 1-2 weeks for delivery. Suddenly this morning it switched to 5-9 weeks.

This was sad and disappointing.

It’s not the end of the world as I know the end of year push can result in inconsistent build quality issues. And the possibility that more things on the cars build may change by then.

Anyways, was just curious if anyone else has experienced this.

My other Tesla came from inventory, so I didn’t have a wait period at all, so this is my first ordering experience through them.

Hope you don’t have to wait till March if you miss end of quarter. I ordered on Oct 1 and still don’t have a VIN or delivery date.

My original was 3-7 weeks. Got the car in 11 weeks. I feel like the original is an uneducated guess.

Yikes!

Fingers crossed!

We are in Vancouver BC, so we tend to be higher priority then some other areas, so hopefully the wait won’t be too bad.

Glad we haven’t sold our other car yet. May wait until the keys are in hand to sell.

I'm deliberately holding off my order for an AWD until ~28th to make sure I'm not part of the quarter-end rush.

Anytime in January would be fine. Hopefully no later than that.

OP, considering yourself fortunate.

That’s kind of my thought as well, “this was meant to happen.”

I’ll happily take one a few weeks late. But for some people who have waited several months, that’s crazy! Sorry to hear for anyone who has been pushed back a few times.

Tesla will push hard to get as many N. American deliveries done before EOY as possible. Then they will begin shipping most all production to Asia and Europe to get them delivered by end of first quarter over there.

Your specific delivery will mostly depend on your individual configuration and what is coming out of the factory before EOY. If you prefer delivery by EOY, please contact your delivery specialist to see what might be acceptable to you that is going to be available in time.

Tesla is currently offering Free Supercharging for a year as an additional incentive to take deliveries this year. A nice perk.

I ordered mine on 12/16 when it said 1-2 weeks and from what I’m seeing it still says that. On my account it says estimated delivery between 12/21- 12/31. I’m really hoping they pull through and get it delivered on time. What does your estimated delivery say?

I might be the very lucky one. I placed an order for MY LR MSM White Int. on 12/6 and got VIN 12/19 and the delivery date is 12/23. I am in Los Angeles area. I also made color changes from white to MSM, and black interior to white. I am not sure if that made my delivery faster or slower. However, I am not so lucky with Model 3. I also ordered Model 3 Red SL White Int. 10/20 but still waiting! My Model Y estimated delivery date disappeared several times then boom VIN appeared on Saturday. (MF088xxx)

Conclusion:
You can mostly count on same-quarter delivery.

You guys are lucky.
I waited six months for my Model S (back in 2015).
Tesla still has more demand than they can handle so there are frequent changes to the schedule.
It's not like the obsolete ICE car dealers who have hundreds of unsold cars just sitting around waiting for some sucker to buy them.

That’s my guess. While there’s high demand in Vancouver BC and it’s metro area, the population of the area is just under 2.5 million people.

California will probably get everything rolling off the line for the next week I’m guessing.
