Our Model S Bargain - Our Experience With Tesla So Far

Latest since our our first test drive with a Model S it was clear, that there is no way around it. Previously out of range, because the vehicle is destined to become a company car, for which input tax reduction is not possible if the costs of purchase are above 80.000,- EUR including sales tax. Then came the new Model S 60 and thanks to the referral program the following was possible:

Ordered on 6th July in our local Tesla Store, already confirmed two days later in MY TESLA (it pays off to refresh the MY TESLA page several times a day), then in quick succession assignment of VIN and Delivery Experience Specialist, and I even got my own referral link just one day before the referral program ended (of course too late to do anything with it). The expected delivery period is September - Early October.

So where is the bargain?

The free Tesla Hat, that we got from the Tesla Store for our junior. :D
OK, and of course the circumstance with the 1000 EUR discount from the referral program + 3000 EUR federal subsidy + 2000 EUR urban subsidy + 6666,67 EUR input tax reduction, getting our Model S down to 68.273,33 EUR. Not as good as in other countries, where you get full input tax reduction on company purchases, but better than nothing!

Of course too bad about the all-wheel drive, but that would not have been possible without loss of input tax reduction anyway. The 75 kWh battery clearly is incredible, limited to 60 kWh by software always charging "full" flat out without having to worry about any negative impact on battery life, that rocks, and we really do not need more capacity for our driving profile. The Premium Upgrades Package was a must-have, especially for the HEPA filter system, because we are so sick of the stink on the roads (that is also why we do not regret the panorama roof, which we most likely would have never opened anyway). There are mixed reports about the NextGen seats, and we have no doubts the multi-pattern standard seats will do. We will activate Autopilot later, and there was no interest in the remaining surchargeable extras in the first place. Hence the chosen is the ideal vehicle configuration for us.

White has always been our favorite car paint, but our Model S will be completely wrapped right after its arrival.

Next week we will test a Model S P90D (and hopefully a Model X) at The Electric Road Trip event, and our Tesla Center will give us a Model S for a day at the end of August, to shorten the waiting time. One takes every opportunity to drive a Tesla.

All in all we only had the best experience with Tesla. It does not look like we will go for another auto brand again in the future, although brand loyalty is actually alien to us. Contrary to the usual assumption with Tesla drivers we also do not have any iPhones or other Apple products. :)

I ordered exact same car for similar reasons.

Happy for you!

....and jealous! I haven't started production and I confirmed July 10th which was 17 days ago.

If I wasn't so Tesla crazy I wouldn't mind, but it's disheartening feeling like I've been skipped over.

My DS said to expect a mid September delivery although I don't know why mine is taking weeks longer than others. I'm in California too.

They batch orders. You are likely getting lumped in with end of quarter deliveries because you are closer to the factory than most.

@Buddy I feel you I confirmed July 4th and still haven't gone into production so 23 days and counting. I would think as a 60D vs 60 I'd take priority over the 60; however, there are a few who confirmed/got VIN after me who have already entered production this week. I think the CA factor is in play, since with shipping it takes significantly longer for those overseas & on the other side of the country to get their cars... I plan to pickup at the factory so the car can be delivered almost immediately after production. I had a Late July - August window that just shifted to August - Early Sept :( So that's not making me happy... as I need to take delivery in the first 2.5 weeks of August in order for the factory delivery to make sense with my work schedule.
