Out of state purchase

I searched this sub forum but didn't find anything, so thought I'd start a new thread about this. Has anyone bought a Tesla from out of state ? Now that Tesla won't ship used cars, you have to go and pick it up in person within 7 days. I realized that for MA residents, this creates a lot of challenges and there's pretty much nothing Tesla can do to help. So, I was looking for advice and/or experiences that folks may have had here. Of course, the simplest thing would be to not buy the car ....

Yes. There are some states where it is advantageous to pick up and some where it is not.

All depends on local tax rates and reciprocity with your state of residence.

I picked mine up in IL and drove back to NH

I’m considering one from IL too. Did you end up getting their temporary permit for out of state residents ? I assume you didn’t have to pay sales tax in IL

Correct. No sales tax and I got a 30 day temp tag.

I think NJ has a similar policy.
