There have been many threads about various pros and cons of 8.0 -- no need to recapitulate all of that discussion here. I just want to boil it down to a simple binary question: all things considered, do you like 7.1 or 8.0 better?

I like it. Maps faster, autopilot safer, music player has more options and two different ways to display, hides toolbar on screen so there is less clutter, picture of car charging is cooler, you can set charge limit sliding bar, I'm sure there is more.

I like the expanded maps view and since I exclusively stream or bluetooth my phone, I find the media player to be an upgrade. So I like 8.0. I also like my faster closing and opening X doors.

Oh, also the increased regen appears to have improved the consumption rates on my X. Or it's a coincidence. But so far, so good on that.

I don't use USB audio and so I quite like the new audio system. It takes a little getting used to, but that would be the same no matter how they changed it.

The changes to the A/P.... It generallyperforms better. I'm not a fan of the nag but that's our own bloody fault, not Tesla's, and so I won't hammer them for it.

Ah... The thread of reason... :)

Since I don't use USB sourced music I don't have any issues with the media player and I really like the new maps presentation and the overall new UI.
