Overcoming software limits in acceleration?

Hey, did anyone hear about potentials to overcome software limitations in power output? Imagining something like a tuning for an Ice car - plug in a device and enjoy a better power output but no drivetrain warranty.
Maybe a mpp party box could do something similar?

Is this a "turn my SR / LR / AWD" into a P? (like you said, similar to ICE cars where people buy the lower HP / engine model and tune it for more HP)?
