@Zythryn - I agree the internet radio is a pleasant surprise. For one thing the audio quality is considerably better than XM, and if you don't like a song you can just skip to the next one. We pulled up at the kids' school this morning blasting Dubstep (my 12-yr old son's choice, not mine). Other pleasant surprises: 1. The touchscreen is great. I had initially dismissed it as gimmickery, but now having used it, the UI is well thought out and it is a joy to use. 2. The backup camera is very high quality and the fish-eye view makes navigating my right-angle driveway a snap. I drive with it on most of the time and prefer using it over the rear-view mirrors. 3. The pano roof is huge and when you open it you might as well be in a convertible. It amazes me how hung up people get on sun visors and cup holders.
Always room for improvement. =) Maybe next year those things will be taken care of and the car will be even more amazing.
Simian, I still think those pictires are amazing! Though, I hate that you had to post even more pictures - now I cannot decide on my wallpaper! I ask in this thread aswell, do you know what kind of trees are in your driveway?
Yep, excellent photos. I initially though they might be HDR, but after looking at the exif I see it is the result of an EOS 5D mkII and long exposure times. Who's going to be the first one to post HDR photos of their Model S ?
Picked up Sig #353 last Thursday at the Fremont factory. Initial reactions: - Previous complaints about a small back window are valid. But they make it up to you with large side mirrors. - Takes a bit to get used to how the door handles work. I'm used to mechanical latches. I still think the "slide in/out" is rather silly. But it does get your attention. - Pain to keep all that chrome clean - I've never used Bluetooth before, but my old "HP/Palm Veer" mobile phone syched with no problem - Key fob. It's been said already, but I can confirm that it is a pain to add a usefull key ring. - Gobs of storage space. - I've driven a Priuse for 10+ years, so I'm not used to how wide the Model S is. I catch myself drifting to the right on the highway. - I had no problem with the Homelink garage door opener. Followed the prompts and was done in less than a minute Fun fact learned at factory: the air intake flaps below the headlights open/close depending on the battery needs.
What kind of range are you seeing in "standard' mode? I will be mostly driving up and down 101/280/85 in the Valley. thanks
I'm getting in the high 240s of rated range in standard mode so far. I've done one range charge just to see what number I could get and got 269 miles.
I got a nice picture of both of my vehicles together this evening. One uses no gasoline at all, the other uses prodigious amounts:
Very nice, rbmartin! I get the sense there is a high proportion of pilots among Tesla owners and reservation holders compared to the general population. I'll have to get a photo of my two 'flyers': the airplane and the S, that is. - - - Updated - - - BTW, Simian and rbmartin: "There's a thread for that!" ...quality photos of your Model S, that is... Cool Model S Photos - Page 4
Good observation. My guess as to why: pilots (a) tend to earn good incomes, either as pilots or people who can afford private planes and (b) are more realistic about range and the need to plan trips around range limitation.
I haven't driven more than 40 miles in a day yet, so I can't really say. The cars says "240 miles" every morning. I'm getting about 3 miles/hour charge from my wall socket (I don't get my NEMA 14-50 installed for a few weeks).
