I took delivery this week at the Costa Mesa Service Center. My delivery specialist was Drew, and he was great.

Since I had previously arranged home delivery and that is no longer available in my area, they arranged for a car service to pick me up and take me in for my appointment. The walk through was very thorough. It took about 30-40 minutes and we ended up going through just about everything on my delivery checklist. I was looking for certain things, and Drew was patient and indulged me as I checked panel gaps, etc.

The car itself was better than expected! The interior combination looked better than I had imagined (having not seen this combo in person). The color of the leather was also more creamy than I had remembered from TM events I had attended. The panel gaps were excellent (I think this is partly because the car was obviously on the line AFTER the big March push and the week-long refresh of the assembly line). The UI/control scheme is also better than I remember, and a huge advancement compared to what I have seen in other cars.

The only negative so far is the control screen can be a bit sluggish when queuing up a bunch of things (i.e. adjust the roof, changing stations, refreshing the map) at the same time. I can't tell if it's the OS, the UI, the underpowered Tegra chip, or the 3G that's bogging it down. It's very sluggish compared to my phone of today (Galaxy Note 2) which makes me wonder how frustrated I'll be in 2 to 3 years when something 10x more powerful in my pocket.

Some very minor things: 1) Slacker seems a bit buggy. 2) browsing through music needs a "back" or "up" button.

But I won't dwell any more on these minor issues. Overall, it's been overwhelmingly positive! Not just for me, but for my friends and neighbors. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few more around the neighborhood in a few months.

Hi everyone,
Took delivery in Denver center this Friday at 9 am - the delivery process was very fast (compared to many others, no going to finance office to buy elephant trampling insurance from the finance manager, no up-selling on idiotic useless warranties, etc.) signed over the Penfed check and spent 30 in with Chris. It really helps to watch the overview video on the website if you are not familiar with the car.
I have owned BMWs and Porsches (still do actually), have driven Ferraris and almost everything from plain to big to exotic and I got to to tell you, my expectations are exceeded. We received a 60 with std suspension, no sunroof, with tech to be used a a daily driver and could not be happier.
With no further delays lets chat impressions:
1) wow ........ and a wow.
2) the mind blowing silence of 0-100 still has me grinning as I type this
3) car is "uber" stable and is the perfect combination of luxury and great performance
4) the door handles take a few tries to get used to (but once you figure it out, no issues: unless you park next to a cell tower by the tint shop that jams the frequency of the remote and does not open them :scared: but after a few minutes of panic and confusion the handy iPhone app did the job and the doors were opened).
5) screen is amazing and the highly customizable drive is like nothing out there
6) range - standard is set to 189 and is plenty for daily drives, so far on day 2.5 and 0 range anxiety (from a person who always worries about my iPhone battery)

additional notes: (so far) a) have had 2 honks and thumbs up from a ML63 AMG, and a M5, b) "ate" a mustang off the red light (could not resist, sorry) c) overheard the following conversation at the tint shop: "wow, Jaguar finally learned how to make cars, finally a pretty one, oh, wait this guy put his iPad on the dash, odd"

Overall, we are one happy Model S family!!

Congrats...

Did yo have "satellite" on? If so it is much faster if you turn it off...

I returned home. Watched as my newly connected Tesla app showed the car moving the west side of town and then car doors opening and closing on my little screen. Well, at least they went to work on it right away. Hope it's an easy fix.

Any update Sparky? I'm hoping your silence means you finally got the car and you're too busy driving/obsessing with it to post here. Good luck!

Yes. Too busy driving.
Tesla contacted me on Monday and said the car was all fixed. They just replaced the "master charger" module at the LA Service center. My Model S was delivered to my house on Tuesday morning and I've put over 320 miles on it since. Car is now perfect. Thx!

Got car today and it is amazing. First impressions are "wow" and "why did it take so long for a company to do this". It is remarkable how intuitive the UI, the screen is beautiful, the acceleration is smooth as butter and it is like a rocket! I will write more on the overall experience when I stop shaking. Seriously, taking delivery was surreal and I just can't say enough about this car! Simply amazing.

"Surreal" was the exact word I was using yesterday...my sister had been making fun of me the last 2 months for constantly updating FB with every little milestone. Gave her a ride in it yesterday and she's not making fun of me anymore...

Have had my car for 6 days now. To sum it up in a word: gratitude. I am extraordinarily grateful for everyone at Tesla who spent the time and incredible amount of work involved to produce this car.

I am very concerned about global warming and the unwillingness of world governments to address the problem seriously. After driving this car for less than a week it is clear to me that Tesla is going to mitigate on the problem by making the economics of owning EVs surpass those of owning ICEs. Their strategy is brilliant. The demand for Gen III by the time it is produced will be staggering based on the image and reputation of Model S and X. Other car companies will be forced to follow suit. And the world will change.

Pros: Too numerous to count. There are not enough superlatives to describe the driving experience. It is a dream.

Cons: There were a couple minor chrome and one minor panel misalignments on my car that no one but me would notice and according to our SC were within spec so will not be remedied. The car won't open with a dead key fob on the windshield like the manual says it should. The windshield wipers do not go fast enough for a serious downpour and the automatic settings cannot be relied upon. These are the only areas of improvement I've noticed and they are quite minor.

First impressions summary: I'm sincerely and deeply grateful to Tesla for making a dream come true.

Congrats and nice summary...

@ddruz - Well said.

@Btrflyl8e - Took my wife for a ride and then my father - no more snide remarks. I actually think my father is thinking of getting one now. He said "does it come in red" and I said, "oh yeah, it definitely comes in red". That may be my first sale.

2 coats of Zaino and I couldn't do another. Or finish the wheels, but here she is at the VA park near my house.

I just couldn't do a 3rd coat of Zaino today...but it looks like glass and wasn't that difficult. I'm getting ready to apply rogbmw's black T logos to my center caps so they should be in my next pics later!

very nice!!

I need to do the same. I bought a No Rinse & Shine car shampoo and Klasse kit to make my car beautiful. I'll do that this weekend. Hopefully with good results.
With the dark colors you pretty much have to do something...I didn't get my wheel caps done since I couldn't find the putty to pull them off with. I might try using duct tape tomorrow. If I can find it! That should be the last of working on it this weekend...other than driving it of course!
It sure looks awesome when it's clean and shiny!

Nice job, @Btrflyl8e!

I didn't have any putty or duct tape either and chose to apply them straight onto the car without popping the caps off. With a steady hand and a pair of forceps, it was no sweat at all:

Center Cap Tesla T - Page 4

Everyone should get these! The vanilla wheels look relatively bland and anonymous; the logo really pops with this cheap, non-invasive mod (thanks again to Roger W for such a simple yet slick idea).
