Owners with Premium Lighting

I think I am slightly confused. I have been trying to figure out exactly what the premium lighting is, as I did not order tech package, and their was no "premium lighting" package when I ordered my 60. I have VIN 9846. I have the door handle lights, Frunk & Trunk lights, the inside light strips and floor well lights, as well as the ones that shine on the ground. Was this standard back on the earlier cars regardless? Or was mine installed by accident?

Hmmm... I thought they came with the Tech Package when I ordered...

I thought those lights changed to a separate package after the price increase last year and where included on all cars prior to increase.

Not when I ordered. They were part of some package or other, but weren't today's stand-alone Premium Lighting package. I'm pretty sure it was part of the Tech Package. Tesla has mixed and matched package options a number of times over the past year, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that they were "standard" at some point. It was mentioned by someone that the rear door handle lights are now optional. When I bought my car, all 4 handle lights were part of the base car.

S60, no tech package, VIN11055 and I have all of the lights from premium lighting package. There was no premium lighting package at the time my car was delivered.

I am 99% sure it was optional, included in a package, when I took delivery which was about a year before you. I wish I'd taken some screen shots of the configuration pages at the time. Maybe it was one of those slight differences between Canadian and US models, or just one of the slivers of time when the packages were different. I distinctly remember thinking that I wanted to order it because my previous Cadillac CTS had something similar which I kind of liked.

See here:

In June 2012, the tech package included "Convenience lighting" and "LED foglights"

In Jan 2013 it was still the same

By July 2013, both features had gone but "LED cornering lights" had appeared

I haven't trawled all the intermediate captures to see exactly when they disappeared

Yeah, that was another controversy. The cornering lights were actually always there with the fog lights, but when they removed the fog lights altogether (later brought them back) the cornering lights were singled out in the spec pages. I guess they wanted to keep the same number of bullets in the list of features!

You are probably right. Before I took delivery of my car, somehow I was also convinced I wasn't going to get lights on door handles, footwell and others. It was a pleasant surprise when I got the car. Maybe Tesla threw in a bonus for me since I am a Linux kernel developer ;)
