P select not automatic with door opening with "Creep" on

Coming from a Prius as my main commuter, and in stop and go traffic for long periods, I enabled creep mode and set regen braking to low immediately on delivery of my model 3 and I haven't yet wanted to change it. I don't trust that the standard regen braking w/o creep will stop me in time or will stop slowly enough and still give the driver behind me ample time to react. I've too have occasionally tried to exit my vehicle without engaging park, but I feel it's the right thing to press a button (other than the one to operate the door) to either turn the vehicle off or put it in park before getting out.

Creep has nothing to do with regen braking. Regen braking in the M3 ends below 5 mph so if you want to do a full stop you have to use the brake. Full regen braking is much less than max mechanical braking. With EAP the car will follow stop and go traffic automatically including braking to a stop.
