So in my case Tesla has given me zero goodwill since I put in my reservation over two years ago. They botched up my delivery, they disappeared for weeks at a time when I had questions and they couldn't wait to get rid of me after delivery.

I have been incredibly patient the entire time. I never once got upset with someone, I've never yelled or given attitude to an employee. I've been incredibly accommodating. The price drop was just the final straw in a long of transgressions that date back two years.

There's no goodwill to be had. They took all mine and never gave me any in return.
Ahh, so there's more to the story.

I'm sorry your delivery experience sucked eggs, but trying to organize a picket line over this particular issue isn't going to help your situation. Keeping your cool and talking to Tesla is your best bet, IMO.

I'll decline your proposal because such action results in a public humiliation just to try and get Tesla's attention for selfishness. Things take time to develop a solution to handle the refund Elon has stated. I'm certainly not requesting $5,000 back from Elon in lieu of no unlimited Supercharging. I'm an early adopter of the Performance variant and I'm glad that I got it early to receive more benefits than originally delivered.

BTW, you're better off settling this matter in a civilized manner rather than relying on shady tactics to get Tesla to the table for discussion. There's a court room for that type of urgency to resolve disputed matter.

So you want all the owners to engage in mass civil disobedience for your particular and very personal situation then? I'll give you this, you've got a big pair to make that kind of ask. More power to you but anyone going along is insane or very lonely.

Umm. No. This is more like McDonald's randomly putting dogsh*t in their Big Mac burgers and asking anyone whose ordered a Big Mac if they are tired of eating dogsh*t.

I'm glad you got what you paid for. Not all of us did.

Summary: Submitted order modification to MR 10/19, Tesla erroneously switched to a LR Sport Wheels and gave VIN and delivery date despite telling me it was for a MR, now telling me it will be too late to get a MR by years end, screwing me out of the incentive. So far told there is nothing they can do.

I am a long-term follower of Elon Musk and Tesla and have been drinking the Tesla coolaid for at least 5 years. On 8/2/16 I put down the $1,000 and placed a reservation for a model 3, no small contribution for a cash-strapped resident physician swimming in loans, but knew once I was an attending this was the car I wanted. It’s essentially my dream car and I have been planning on it being my one big splurge as a new attending physician.

6/29/2018 Order placed a week after graduation to lock in the lifetime premium connectivity, initially LR basic options to keep $49,000 for the under $50,000 required for the PA EV tax credit and to get before end of the year to get the full $7,500 federal. Super excited.

7/11/2018 Got an email from Michael, a delivery advisor, and offered delivery but I was out of country for the month vacationing after graduation and couldn’t physically take delivery. I was offered 1 opportunity to push back but need to choose now a month I can definitely take delivery. I chose November as by then settled into are and new job, a few paychecks in, national conference presentation done, qualifying emergency medicine board exam done, good gift to myself for finishing boards. Still super excited.

10/18 Midrange announced, 6-8 week timeframe, excited to switch to get some options (white interior, sports wheels) and still keep below $50,000 for the PA incentive, opened account, edit button, but did not seem to be an option to edit to mid-range.

10/19 Called in to ask how to switch to midrange, told need to submit an email request form and no problem, definitely should get by end of year, submitted email request from Jahkeem F. At this point not told at all how long this would be to process. Submitted reply:

“Options to add (if applicable): Mid-range battery, White interior, 19 inch sports wheels

Options to remove (if applicable): Long-range battery, Black interior, standard aero wheels

Any additional detail: None”

10/22 Called to check in as had not seen switch on account yet, told manual switch takes time, can be up to 3 weeks to process, but will not lose place in line, assured good before end of the year.

10/29 Called again, told the same and not to worry, but starting to get nervous.

11/1 First email “Confirming your model 3 update” but to 51,500 model 3 LR with sports wheels (never ordered this or put in for this change) which is over the $50,000 for incentive and not what I wanted. Alarmed I called in again, assured original request still in process, email is an error, nothing to worry about.

11/2 Another “Confirming your model 3 update” email, called again, error, nothing to worry about.

11/6 Another “Confirming your model 3 update” email but also another email “Update: Your Model 3 Order” saying delivery link up for 7 days. Log into account, see delivery appointment of 11/15 10AM at my local dealer, surprised as I had not heard from a delivery specialist. Do trade in pictures, start calling for insurance, auto loans. Call in, told the emails still errors, some system wide issue, supervisor made aware, not to worry, should be good for my mid-range.

11/8 more “Confirming your model 3 update” emails.

11/9 Call in (2 hour wait) due to still nothing from a delivery specialist, told I do indeed have a VIN and delivery appointment. I asked what the deal was and if this was real and what car, should be my requested mid-range, told by a Supervisor Zach that someone from delivery will get in touch with me, and that he would send me a personal email so that I could get in touch with him directly if any further issues. Later that evening called by Brandon, says from delivery but these have been errors, the VIN was for LR sports wheel (I NEVER ordered this change), says likely not possible to get a mid-range before year end. I get this call on my way into work, can’t talk anymore, but Brandon told me that he will contact a supervisor and someone from HUB to get in touch with me. Never got the email from the Supervisor Zach I was promised. Never got a call from a supervisor or someone from HUB like I was promised.

11/13 (today) Called in, spoke with same supervisor Zach, said he’d put me on hold and escalate to a manager in delivery to try to match me to a car. Put on hold for an hour, phone died, now charging and calling back.

As far as I can tell this has been a comedy of errors and false promises on Tesla’s part. I feel like every time I call I am told something different or patently incorrect or untrue. No one seems to know what is really going on or how to help me. I never would have submitted for the switch to midrange if I thought it would push me back into 2019 for delivery, losing the incentive. I also was assured 10/19 and 10/22 I’d be good before the end of the year by the call reps given the 6-8 week timeframe and thought I had a good cushion. Furthermore I was never told the manual switch would take weeks, if I had known that I would have considered a new order (automatic via the website) and canceling my old one to make sure I was an early mid-range request to maximize my chances of delivery by the end of the year. Tesla definitely never told me that as waiting for this switch I would NOT hold my place in line, and that once it was processed I’d be tacked on the end and could get screwed over. Now I am looking at delivery in January, which completely screws me over out of $3,750 of the tax incentive and a delivery delayed at least a month past when I thought I’d get the car at the latest.

Any tips or ideas? I never seem to get anywhere when I call in. The abysmal customer service, constantly getting the run around, and the constant lies and false promises from Tesla staff is really appalling.

You keep saying "us" but that contradicts your given statement that this is all about some long list of transgressions that Tesla has levied against you?
This is about P3D owners that got screwed by the price drop and continued misinformation and stonewalling by Tesla. My personal experience, while incredibly unfortunate, is not the reason for this post. I was very clear in my original post. You chose to read into it something it's not and are trying to twist an honest conversion and turn it ugly because you want to be rude and disrespectful.

In the real world companies accommodate upset buyers all the time.

Honestly anyone that isn't sitting in a P3 currently doesn't really get an opinion on this. I don't believe for a second that most of those poo pooing this refund business wouldn't feel the same had it happened to them.

Took delivery of Performance Model 3 on 09/29. I am poo pooing this refund business. Got what I paid for. And so did you. And this is the real world.

BTW, this car puts my 2013 Model S85 that I traded in to shame in absolutely every metric except space. Just took a family trip with five - had enough space.

Honest conversation is definitely what is being served today.

I didn't get what I paid for if we want to be technical and if it really came to it that would be a proper legal argument. I paid 5k for the package and did not receive the package, Tesla did not own up to their end of the deal. I'd have decent luck pursuing a breach of sales contract and getting the 5k back that way.
If you feel that way great. Many of us don't. If they can make the package free just 2 months after release that makes me feel taken advantage of. Just a cash grab that they have since decided didn't make sense. If Tesla wants to sour a big chunk of their biggest fans/early adopters then they can tell us to piss off. That isn't a good strategy IMO.
Edit, and regardless of how you feel about this there is undoubtedly a number that would piss you off personally. What if AWD buyers received performance cars for the same price starting tomorrow? You got what you paid for right?
