P3D white interior (no performance upgrade package) VIN updates

Just got a call from delivery in Fremont which I did not answer and then they emailed and then I called them back.

P3D - MSM with white interior - 18" Aero's - Non EAP

* Reserved: 2/15/18
* Ordered: 7/9/18
* Called Me: 9/6/18
* Delivery Scheduled: 9/12/18
No VIN yet. They told me they do the VINs differently now. They first assign delivery date and then 24-48 hours before delivery date the VINs are assigned.

I am in San Jose, CA which is 30 min from the Fremont factory. When I ordered the site said I had no option but home delivery. Now when they called today they said I can choose home or delivery center. I picked delivery center.

a vin 24 hours before delivery will make it impossible to get a loan and insurance....

Does anyone know if getting insurance filed early (before vin or delivery date) helps any ? Same question for financing (any chance Dealer financing goes first or maybe cash)?Haven’t heard from TSL since ordered so I’m a little blind as to what comes next.

Ordered Red P3D with EAP , aero wheels and white interior..

That kinda happened to me. I don't live in San Jose any more so I just put in the lowest ZIP code it would take. Ended up being Brooklyn NY. And then you can't change it and it doesn't show up anywhere in the status page. So I got an email a couple of weeks ago to schedule delivery the middle of Sept in Brooklyn NY( that's how I know the zip I put in was Brooklyn, didn't pay any attention at the time). I talked to delivery specialist and said Aaaahh, No. So she said she changed the delivery location to Sacramento/Rocklin (I live in Nevada) and a new VIN would be assigned. I told her I was in no hurry and that December would be the best delivery month for me. She said she would put all that in my file and that they would get back to me. If I haven't heard from them by the end of Sept I'll get back with them to see where it stands.

So if you live near the Brooklyn delivery center you may get a sooner than expected delivery option if you ordered a white, white AWD.

Hey - you got my car!
(Same configuration, same delivery center 3/31/16 online reservation 6/29/18 order) - I just received an email yesterday saying my car will be available between 9/22 and 9/29

I did get that cryptic message in the afternoon of 8/31, suggesting I could take delivery that weekend - but I wasn't able to return the call until that evening, and of course didn't hear another peep from them until yesterday.

It's pretty clear they're sacrificing the prioritization by reservation/order date for the sake of expediency in the rush to deliver as many vehicles as possible this quarter.

I requested to change my order to white interior and got the confirmation of the modified order today. Now, my account has a VIN (97xxx) but no email or call about delivery. I'm no sure if there is really a car for me.
BTW, I checked the VIN and found it is on Delivery Receipts and it's destination is at Amports Antioch (delivered and received on 08/31/18). Not sure what is going on.
 
How do you get your vin without a email from Tesla?

You are supposed to have an MVPA sent to you at least a few days before delivery that includes the VIN.

I got antsy, called the local delivery center today (8 days before scheduled delivery) told them I am getting ducks lined up for delivery and could they please send me the MVPA.

They were super courteous and sent it right over via email and now I know what my VIN is.

Red Paint was in great shape. Nothing I noticed at delivery beyond some minor swirl marks, adhesive residue, or marks on top of clear coat. Panel gaps good. Glass alignment was perfect. No scratches on interior center console or glass. Wheels were great. No rattles or noises on drive straight to PPF install. (They will do a more detailed paint inspection) - I'm very happy and very relieved there were no glaring issues on delivery, though it is a bit of a downer to drop off the car within an hour of receiving it!

Received my VIN over the weekend. 1006xx with delivery date of 9/24.
Definitely going to get PPF, but not sure I could part with my car within an hour of receiving it. \
That is some serious will power.
