P3D white interior (no performance upgrade package) VIN updates

Huh? What part of my posts is confusing? I had a delivery date set before I had a VIN. I asked my ISA about the car's VIN when I was scheduling pickup and she told me that the VIN hadn't been released yet and it would show up after contracts processed stuff (she guessed Monday or Tuesday). The My Tesla page updated yesterday requesting money and showing a VIN.

It wasn't your post I thought was confusing, it was their response I thought was silly. If your delivery was in a few days I'm surprised they couldn't release your VIN to you. They obviously already knew what car was going to you since it had to already be AT or en route to the dealership. I just think Tesla's process is silly sometimes.

Mine is scheduled for the end of the month but I want to start figuring out what to do for a loan now. How are you guys doing this without a vin?

Also I still have the edit button, so I'm getting doubtful the estimate is correct, lots of people in front of me as I have only been waiting a year n 1/2

I actually did my loan stuff weeks ago while rates were better. Through FedChoice ( DC area only ) and then matched through lightstream unsecured (which allowed me to pay cash equivalent) and chose mid september to get it funded and mid october to start paying.

Ah, got it--sorry.

It's especially strange because I'm picking up from the Fremont delivery center.

You may want to consider looking into Lightstream (a division of Sun Trust Bank). They offer unsecured auto loans to well qualified applicants (so, there's no lien on the car, they don't need anything from Tesla, the car purchase works out like a cash transaction), but their rates aren't the greatest. That can be made up for, however, since they'll beat any rate you're approved for from another lender provided it's for the same amount and term.

Oh man, all the White on White P3D- are getting VIN (6 of 10 have per the spreadsheet) now and here I am sitting with nothing! 6/26 order even. What's the first thing that happens when you're up, is it an E-mail or a phone call or a change on your delivery page? I put in a note that I would like to change my payment method back a month and a half or two ago when it asked and it's been saying "A delivery specialist will contact you about your change shortly" and I'm worried that's holding me up.

Nice, I didn't know I would be getting the car so soon until last week when the site updated. I also recently upgraded to the Performance (White/white) I wasn't expecting delivery until November for AWD (probably november).

Lightstream sounds good but I hear you must match using an approved loan, and you can't get an approved loan until you have a vin? I supposed it wouldn't hurt to get pre-approved for now, then switch to lightstream last minute and change tesla config to paying with cash?
I need to finance about 39k of the purchase and credit is in the 800's so I should be able to get unsecured loan from lightstream?

Any silver bullet credit unions / banks to check? I will try FedChoice if I qualify but But I'm reading the lets talk financing thread and I'm about 10 pages back from the end without reading about anything but info on lightstream.

edit: I have FedChoice, Allegancy, DCU, Xceede to try so far.

I took a little bit of a gamble. My delivery window was August - October when I applied. I estimated September. I knew my loan approval was good for 60 days through FedChoice, but that their really good rates were for the summer, so I applied and got that locked in midway through august. I also knew that I could wait with Lightstream if needed to fund until a month later, so i figured I would be able to pad it that way. All in all it allowed me to lock in a 1.39% 72 month loan. Mostly thanks to some financing suggestions here on the forums. It could have turned out poorly, and I hear that a lot of credit unions with good rates are being even more hesitant to give out "proof of financing" due to all of the people asking to just give their loans to lightstream. (I think there were a lot in August since people on here provided that info) FedChoice did approve me, but they said my loan wouldn't be "completed" until I provided them with my purchase agreement with VIN, which I didn't get until I said I'm paying with cash.... (kind of a catch 22)

what happens if you find out your can't pay with cash? I'm sure tesla wouldn't care too much? Damn I wish I had jumped on that boat when you did.

I didn't change my option to "pay with cash" on my tesla page until I was approved for an unsecured loan with lightstream. Sorry, My last sentence in my paragraph was confusing. They still said I was "approved" but I didn't complete (accept) my loan with FedChoice when Lightstream matched it.

@CFolander I have the same config and ordered the 6/28. No vin yet , I called this morning and they told me I have a order adviser assigned now so that sounds like progress.

Just for fun I called as well (Actually had already called in for parts info, my model X has been in the shop for nearing three months :'( ) Was told I have a Delivery Adviser assigned as well, but I don't know exactly what that means. Here's hoping I get the call soon!

VIN # 967xx
.

So White one White P3D- have been assigned VIN from yours, 96k, to 101k at least. Here's hoping my VIN comes in at 100,000 on the dot, how could would that be!

Took delivery of P3D this past Friday.

- Non-owner, Day 1 reservation
- MSM / white interior / 18" wheels
- Ordered 6/27/2018
- VIN 8/8/2018
- Delivery 8/31/2018

The car is AMAZING. Incomparable to any ICE before it. I traded in a 2012 Audi A4 and the P3D may pull harder at 50 MPH than my 200HP Audi did at zero MPH... Technology is brilliant. Love the minimalist interior. AP totally changes long commutes. There are no words to describe how superior this experience is to any other.

Co-workers today were shocked at the acceleration. One co-worker (engineering tinkerer) was looking up Chevy Volt batteries on eBay to retrofit his kit car. :D

I just got a call to schedule delivery too. September 29. Looks like the EOQ push is on in earnest. I ordered it without a reservation on 19 days ago!
Still no VIN yet as some others here have mentioned has also been their experience.

1st world problem, but if I knew it was going to be so soon, I would have held off a bit to make sure I wasn't part of the end of the quarter push. I'm guessing there will be a few quality issues based on the rush. Just wanted to make sure I got in to get the full tax rebate.
