Just wondering if the P85D US version will continue to be built by TESLA all year long in 2015
or will there be a period of time when TM will stop building it in favor of other models and
variants such as Right hand driver, etc.

For instance, was the P85+ always being built for the US market or were there months when none were
    assembled?

Tesla wants to have predictable quarterly sales, and prioritize high-margin versions like the P85D.
To avoid shipment delays impacting book numbers, they produce international cars at the beginning and US models at the end of a quarter.
For example, the first P85Ds were shipped to US customers this December, and they recently switched to production for the Norwegian market.
If you were to order a P85D now, you'd receive it late February at the earliest. March for other versions.

So what are all the North American DS's doing when 2 months of production each quarter are going directly overseas?

never thought of that but you ain't kidding. I can't even imagine the cost and logisitics involved in tracking, shipping, installing and receiving the old seats back for thousands of units. Plus, what in the heck do they do with the old seats?

I am assuming they will go into loaner cars, etc.

I'm pretty sure Tesla will have it available for order throughout the year. Tesla's production scheduling appears to be somewhat arcane, although as noted above they seem to prefer a "time-on-target" approach to deliveries every quarter - building cars with longer shipping earlier in the quarter, then ones close to home later in the quarter. Performance cars have historically been prioritized ahead of others, at any time in the quarter.

Stockpile them in a tiny corner of that massive factory of theirs and use them for warranty replacements for the next decade. :)

I am sure that many will end up as Deluxe Tesla Office Chairs. Simply weld a plate to the bottom, which holds a battery and
mount a pedestal on wheels. Would probably sell quite a few for man caves and offices.
