P85D Delivery

I'm actually quite bummed out about the extra delay. I was really looking forward to having a new car in time for my birthday.

I'm also a little bit worried my current car will not last. I've been having more and more costly repairs lately. Sigh...

From what I gather, there are 2 issues that are causing the delays.
1. the dock strike in California, making supplies unreliable
2. the new seats are faulty

Not sure how long both problems will take to fix. Hopefully they can sort it out quickly.

I got an email from my Tesla "Delivery Experience Specialist" yesterday saying that the car will be delivered August - September. So now from May to September. 4 months extra delay.

So I replied to him asking very clearly about what has happened and what reasons there are behind such a delay.

The response email was crap. No details what so ever. They don't try to explain anything.

""The delivery of the P85Ds in Hong Kong is estimated to start this Summer (subject to change).
Your order is already confirmed and has entered the production queue at our Factory.
The production schedule is regularly updated based on the option availability and some other factors.
Please kindly note that the timing will shift to show the most recent estimation."

At this point, even though we can all sort of guess what the reasons are, I would feel much better if they were honest and told me what was really happening. I regret buying a Tesla now rather than another Benz. At least with those cars I know exactly what I will get and when it will arrive.

Amazing how I've gone from someone super excited to someone who wants to burn the brand. All due to poor communications.

I ordered mine in November and I've been quoted May delivery, just checked the status and it says (but I've not got any email from the Delivery Specialist)

"Your Model S has entered the production queue at our Factory in Fremont, California"

Estimated Delivery

Late May
This time frame is only an estimate and is subject to change based on current production schedules and option availability. Please expect that this timing will shift to provide the most accurate estimate possible. Your delivery appointment will be confirmed by your Delivery Experience Specialist once your vehicle is fully assembled and en route to the nearest Tesla location for final inspection and preparation.

Looks like all the P85D quota for June delivery are gone. If you check now the website for new ordres, it is showing July for 85D and Aug for P85D. I guess the HK quota for P85D filled up much faster than the 85D quotas?

Did you assigned the VIN number for your MS ?

I didn't get a call, but I emailed them to ask and they called me back.

I emailed to ask if the seats are the reason my car is delayed from May to August. They said it is not the reason. Also even if the image on the "My Tesla" design shows next gen fron and normal rear seats, I will get Next gen front and rear seats.
