So jealous. Please post pics and your thoughts on the car!

If it makes you feel better, know that I won't really enjoy it that much on that day... It's rainy around here and all I'm going to do on Wed is to drive it straight from the Fremont Factory to a detailer to get it OptiCoated.
I'll pick it up for good on Thursday evening or Friday morning.

_THEN_ the fun begins

Cheers!

You will know how well the AWD does in the rain with the 21" wheels

Yes, it got moved earlier to Wednesday 12/3 @ 2pm.

Wow that's exciting!! Very happy for you. Congrats :)

I hope that means the rest of us aren't too far behind. My VIN entered production the day after yours, and it's still in production I'm guessing it will be done tomorrow or Wednesday of this week at the latest.

Please do post pics of the delivery when you go pick it up!

OK, no need to be jealous quite yet! There's a setback: DS contacted me _today_ to tell me that it wouldn't be tomorrow, and that there is no new date.
Basically it's a "scratch that", not even going back to the old date.

Of course I had planned an OptiCoat work the same day that I had to cancel with less than a one day notice... I hate doing that.

I wish there was a bit more transparency about what happened.

So, the waiting game continues!

Huh. If it was just extra quality control I would think they would just move the date back a few days. Scratch that with no new date really sounds like something is up.

Exactly my thoughts. No transparency leads to minds running wild...
I'd feel much better if they told me what happened (even if it was a screwup - mistakes happen).

OK, here's some visibility I just got from my DS:

At this time I am unable to confirm a date as an accurate revised timeframe has not been disclosed. With the new dual motor vehicles coming off the line for the first time, we want to take extra care in ensuring all inspections are done to our quality standards. With this said, since the process is so new, we have not been advised exactly how long it will take to complete the inspection process.

I hope that's all it really is.

Congrats Greg on your new P85D. I may have taken your spot for tomorrow. Im scheduled to pick up my P85 at 2pm. Like you, my wife and I will be driving it for a couple of hours then drop it off to get the calipers painted. (I don't like the red) Im sure we'll see each other on the road!

Before you go painting them, you might take a few hours to see if someone with grey calipers wants to trade with you. I bet you would get a bunch of interest.

You won't be able to even check out your car without prepayment. I am certain that if there are any issues after that, Tesla will rectify the situation promptly. Withholding money from them will just delay your delivery date.

Not true... at least not where I picked up my car. I didn't pay until the day of delivery and after the walk-through, and then paid via ACH using the iMac in the store before driving out. We certainly do have the right to inspect the goods before paying for them.

The car had some detailing issues (adhesive residue, etc) so I also got a voucher for a free detailing at the SC.

Incidentally, I would recommend bringing your own device (phone, tablet, laptop) to do the payment, since I discovered that the computers in the store aren't locked down all that well for security. Or, switch to private browsing mode on the in-store computer.

As soon as I started typing in my bank account #, somebody else's account number popped up in Safari's autocomplete. EGAD! So, I showed my delivery specialist how to clear Safari's cache, clear stored form data, and then disabled storing of form information.

I performed these services at no charge to Tesla... then again he did give me a free umbrella.

Andrew - Thanks for the heads up. I ordered the P85 which included the red calipers, but when I was finalizing my order, I didn't select the red calipers. So now I'm not sure if it comes with it or not. If it does, I may post it in the forum. Thanks again.

I'd trade you!!! Oh wait, you're in Norcal and I'm in Connecticut  ... Also Socal for life (UCLA '07)!

OK then. You guys convinced me!

ACH done!

I have to admit I feel a bit like an idiot now. My delivery date has been cancelled (it was supposed to happen yesterday), with no new date in sight. No date for a date either.

It's obviously a pure coincidence that the cancellation happened right after funds were transferred, but coincidences have a way of getting your mind to wonder...

greg,
over in this thread: Tracking P85D delivery thread

you can read that all of us who we're expecting imminent delivery have been put on hold. There is much speculation about what the delay is and some DSs have suggested that Elon was not happy with fit and finish. Either way you're not alone and there is nothing sinister about payment. It appears that they are just spending more time on the cars - which is ultimately a good thing. I had to cancel my Xpel wrap appointment having just moved it up based on a dat change I was given prior to this delay. I hate messing them around too as they are really busy but my place has been pretty understanding.
