The P85D was last made in 2014. It has been superseded by the P90D (also discontinued), P100D (also discontinued) and now its call the Long Range Performance model

I stand corrected. Thanks for clarifying. So they were making the P90D alongside it too at the same time?

Yeah, there was a time from August 2015 - Feb/Mar 2016 when you could actually choose from a P85D or P90D when building a new car. They overlapped. This was during a very complicated time for Tesla battery and drive options. At the beginning of the year 2016, you could build a new car with these battery/drive options: 60, 60D, 70, 70D, 85, 85D, P85D, P85DL, 90, 90D, P90D, P90DL. Towards the end of the year the P100DL became the only P option, and by the first part of 2017 the only battery sizes were 75 and 100, like they are today (but you could still get 75 RWD then, unlike today). Prices were fluctuating pretty constantly too. What a crazy time.

Check the driver door jamb, down near the bottom. There should be a tag with various info, including the month and year of manufacture. Tessie's was 8/2015.
