I find this post lacking. What song was playing? ;)
Clue: "Have you heard the story of the Hot Rod race...." Guess the song's title and I'll give you a link for a $1,000 discount on a new Tesla.

Bill,
The Mc is software configurable to significantly turn down that "noise" inside the cockpit :) As for what others have to put up with, well........
OK, but is the Mc configurable to "turn down" it's ET to 10.9 seconds?

First, you published a number without a reference. Secondly, if it's a published 70-90 MPH spec, then it's a top gear roll-on without downshifting first. There's no way the E90 takes 3.1 seconds to go from 70-90 in the optimal gear.

Thirdly, you quoted a the P85D's 70-90 as 2.5 seconds. You probably got that from here:

0-60/30-50/50-70 comparitive times for 70D/85D/P85D - Page 6

Which also quotes the P85D's 50-70 at 1.65 seconds yet the fastest I've ever seen is 1.9 seconds. My best 70-90 is 3.1 seconds. Both on 90% charge. These are runs passing through these ranges. For example, the 50-70 was done by starting at 40 MPH and punching it all the way through 80 MPH. The 50-70 is the time it took to pass through it. So it's a lot faster than if I started at 50 MPH and then punched it from that point to 90 MPH.

0-60/30-50/50-70 comparitive times for 70D/85D/P85D - Page 10

So at best, at best, the P85D accelerates from 70-90 as fast as the E90 if you leave the E90 in top gear.

Note: my data is collected using a vbox sport sampled at 20Hz and an external roof mounted antenna.

You really think a M3 can accelerate 70-90 in 3.1 seconds in top gear. Bwahahahaha!! That's hilarious.

Here's a full breakdown on times in various gears of a 2008 M3. The 2010 up are really not any faster than the 2008's.

Updated to 7.0 a bit ago. When I went out it felt like it had more power, but I wasn't able to test in the same place I did before and didn't have the SD card in my PBOX. I'll get a good charge and test tomorrow night.

For me it feels LESS with V7, which is most likely psychological because the new power display goes only to about 400 KW on 90 % charge !

Is it just me or where are your guys power gauges are at full power ?

Given I've been driving this car for about 5 years, your comparison is completely baseless. Would rather have a P90D in any circumstance that didn't involve going over 130 on the autobahn, not that my Tesla will ever do that. M3 = torqueless v8 wonder.

Having to get back in the M3 after test drives was incredibly depressing.

I don't suppose anyone has mention "Bench racing" to you.
