(Not my 'cup of tea', but maybe it goes over well in Japan?)

I like it. If it had been one of the stock colors then I might have chosen a purple shade over orange.

A much darker purple color might have been nice. I like the orange too. Finally saw the Lightening green with CF exterior package at the Model X event and that looks great as well. It's really tough to go wrong with the Roadster but the lavender car above it trying.

The 1.5 Lilac looks so much better in person. The color has a nice depth to it.

Here's a custom colour that’s been hard to photograph. It’s a metallic blue-purple that changes with angle and light falling on it. And looks very different between pics on my laptop screen and a desktop flat screen. And on a dull day it just looks like a flat blue.

After a load of snow last week, I was hoping to capture some shots on a crisp sunny morning - I believe it would stunning, but alas the snow's melted and the sun didn't come out ...

For time being here's some snaps taken a few weeks ago.

Is that your Roadster? That's beautiful! That and the custom Red for the CEO of Toyota are probably my favorite.

@PV4EV: love the color. It reminds me of the handsomest paint I've ever seen in person, a "bottle green" 911, a dark, rich green that showed hints of cobalt blue as the light shifted. Still my ideal for a car, but yours looks like it might run a close second.

Thanks to all for the kind compliments !

I wanted a purpley blue that was in between the two standard blues that Tesla offer. One of my other cars is an Alfa Romeo, and on a service visit to the dealer in 2009 I noticed they had an Alfa Mito in a stunning metallic blue, the likes of which I had not seen before. Apparently it was chosen for the public debut of the car, and on the intial sales of the car in Europe. A quick bit of investigating revealed the paint codes needed for Tesla to paint the car as a custom colour.

Googling "Alfa mito blu tornado" should reveal a variety of photos all showing how difficult it is to capture what the eye sees ! (Although google.com might have different cached pics to google.co.uk… )

At the risk of not having a unique Model S in the same unique colour as my Roadster, the colour is Alfa Paint code 468B, or Dupont X8105.

I've been called an Alien many times … mainly by the US immigration authorities when I was going through an H1b visa application, and the O-1 visa for "Aliens with an extraordinary ability" (despite all my other defects !!!).

I joked with them that it was my Granddad that crash landed at Roswell ... so I had a right of entry, but they didn’t geddit ..

I'm not usually a big fan of 'Green' anything, BUT ... I too once saw a Porsche in a stunning glassy emerald green and it was highly appealing. I havent yet found any car pics to illustrate how stunning it looked...

Thanks for sharing. I bet the Model S looks good in that too. I'll probably stick to the Signature Red though.

I haven't seen Signature Red up close, but it certainly looks very appealing.

Is it a metallic paint close up ? or does it have some sort of deep lacquer ?

It does look good and as W.Petefish said, metallic looking. I think a red color in the same effect you had done would look great too. I think having them do custom paint adds about $6,000 to the price or so but does make a unique car.
