Paint Protection

Hi Everyone,

My MX 100D will be ready for delivery in 2 weeks at Fremont, CA and I heard about the poor paint quality from the factory. Is there a place close by the Fremont facility that can provide paint protection? Also what kind of protection would you recommend?

Thanks,
Sam

The Pearl White paint on my new X appears perfect to my eyes.

I had Suntek film -- applied on the entire front half of the car -- by Invisiguard in San Carlos. Looks great.

Consult with Joe at OCDetailing (OCDetailing - Bay Area Coating & Clear Bra Specialist). He has seen/protected over 2000 Teslas (including both of ours below). Really knows his stuff. Not the cheapest, but I was not looking for a bargain price but a level of quality. FWIW, I chose to only do a quartz polymer coating (OptiCoat Pro on the 2013, cQuartz on the 2015 per his recommendation), but he does coatings, film/wraps, etc, etc. Tell him what you need/want, how you drive, where you live, and let him guide you.

I take back what I said. My paint is perfect and decided to get parts of it wrapped in xpel. Based on some recommendations from other Tesla owners, I decided to go with Wheel Xperts in San Jose. Had my whole hood, mirrors, headlights, and bumper wrapped in xpel for $900 bucks. 10 year warranty and he's a certified xpel dealer. He even threw in a coat of ceramic pro for the bumper! Tell them Stan sent you!

Thanks for everyone's input. I am researching your recommended vendors. I heard that the front would take pretty harsh hits from debris on highway due to the nose design (no front grill unlike ICE cars). Have you experienced them?

The nose design of my new S is the reason why I wanted some protection. It's almost a flat vertical area with lots of space. A chip right in the middle would drive me nuts based on how obvious it would be because of the lack of grill. At least on the older Model S, you can replace the nose cone.

I just received my Solid Black MS and Adonis Detail is doing a full wrap with Clearguard Nano.Hes near San Diego and worth the trip!!!!!
