Hi y'all, I just painted the Gemini wheels on my 2021 Mode Y LR. I'm so happy with the outcome that I had to post ☺️

@TheRod

I’m looking to paint mine also. Any particular protocol? Clean, reclean, mask/tape non painted surfaces, 3-4 coats… anything else?
You're gonna want to powder coat the wheels whenever possible, especially if you live in SEATAC area where you have a bonafide rainy season. Much more durable to brake-dust, road debris and stands up better to the elements (rain, snow, road salt).

I agree, & it’s also a cost item for me.
Probably $50 bucks for me to paint, versus a few hundred ~$500 to powder coat properly.

These 19” Gemini wheels are only for winter use, about 3ish months. Eventually to have studless snows once the stock Continentals are toasted.

Please send us a picture of them, come spring. Would be interested to see how the paint held up (or not).

@jebinc I painted them... and they are okay from 10 ft away. Decent from 5 foot, and yes you can spot a drip or error or two from right up close.

And I'm not happy with the adhesion of the paint. Just my fingernail can scrape through the paint... Oh well, I know this is temporary, as I will have them powder coated once these stock Continental tires are dead, removed and take the bare wheel into a powdercoating shop before I pick up new studless snow tires.

I did no such thing. Mine are stock.
