Good point on the Carl's Jr, they also host the Gila Bend chargers..
Thanks. I couldn't remember where else, but I knew it was more than just Quartzsite, thus it is likely a trend. The funny thing is there are Carl's Jr.'s (Hardee's) all over the country, but they only host superchargers in Arizona. I guess it might be the doing of the regional manager or something.

And Buckeye is Carl's Jr...

I doubt they will break ground very soon. The permit said pending review when I found it. It needs to be approved then put on a contractors schedule. I say 4 to 6 weeks to break ground, then 3 months to build/go live. So my vote is late September or early October.

Monsoon season runs 4th of July until Labor Day. Hopefully they get the trenches dug and cables buried prior to that.

In looking at businesses along the north Beeline Highway, even numbered addresses are on the west side of the road and odd numbered addresses are on the east side, so the permit address would put it on east side, near Carl's, which would put the SCs close to bathrooms and food places without needing to walk across a road.

Great to hear this news! Last summer, I often made trips in our P85D from South Tempe to some hiking trials past Payson (i.e. Horton Creek). I would end up with ~10-20 miles range left over for the round trip.

If Carl's is the spot, here's a few screenshots from google earth of a possible landing zone for the stalls. Streetview has coverage in the parking lot!

Seems like there are some power lines right there, though hard to tell if they would be sufficient for supercharger stalls. Any other speculators out there that can sleuth around online and / or on location?

Hopefully, we will find out soon once the permit is approved and site prep starts :)

Randall

Still hoping for the Globe Supercharger Station.

I love driving around the southwest. I would certainly love to see Kayenta this year. I also wonder why we don't have one at the Grand Canyon, the second most visited NP visited in the U.S. NPS need to pull their head out of their a.. and hop on the EV train. Sucking 110V on the side of the El Tovar hotel? Give me a break!

I started the trip to Tonto Creek Camp with 235 rated miles (S85D) because I had to run errands during the day.
That was for an astronomy STEM outreach activity.
I got to the Camp with 85 rated miles left. Plugged into a dryer outlet (I have the funky adapter for the old style plugs) to add another 50 miles of range giving me 135 to get home. Got home with 50 miles of range left. So basically, I could have done that trip and rolled into the garage with no extra miles of range.

If I had a 100% charge at the beginning, 260 rated miles, I'd get home with 25 miles left if I did that trip without plugging into the 240 V 30 A dryer plug (set max amps to 80%*30A=24A).

It's a beautiful drive during daylight hours.
15 mins on the Supercharger, would remove all range anxiety and remove the need to tap into the dryer outlet.

Hopefully they will get this built before the fall school season starts.

Scouting Payson AZ. If Carl’s is the location.....

Curious, so I went to City Hall.

We guessed the wrong spot.

The Superchargers are planned to be between Subway and the Beeline Hwy.

Why guess when City Hall is open!! Duh?

And Kingman. Does seem to be an Arizona thing.( I've charged at all of them except Quartzite.)

Still hoping for the Globe Supercharger Station.

There was a discussion on here when the first few Superchargers opened at Carl's Jr. Apparently the Arizona franchise owners were grandkids of Carl Karcher… At least one was a Tesla owner and were very supportive of the Supercharger expansion. But the company they ran that held the franchises apparently filed for bankruptcy in 2015… Arizona Carl’s Jr. franchisees file for bankruptcy
