Why does the Performance Plus package require 21" wheels? Or is that a marketing ploy to get you to buy their 21" wheels?

What happens if I buy 19" wheels for the wintertime? Will that break anything? Will I get almost as good performance with 19" wheels with this Performance Plus?

Things that made me go hmmmmmm...

Double sided question....

The technical response from Tesla is something like - We need the larger rear width to make up for loss of oversteer margin (brought about by stiffer less compliant rear suspension bushings). So, if you want the stiffer bushings, you gota get the P+ wheel package (21s with the + stagger).

And, oh yeah, its perfectly ok to put 19s on in the winter....
Yep, that last bit had me scratching my head as well. I'd prefer 21s of the same size on my P+ so I could rotate front to rear if desired. I'm perfectly happy to take responsibility for the reduction in oversteer protection.
