Has anyone had Tesla do the Performance Plus suspension upgrade mentioned in this article?

They quote $13,500, but that includes all new 21" rims and tires. What if you don't need the rims/tires, will they install just the mentioned parts:

* 2 x Rear lower control arms with revised stiffer bushings
* 2 x Rear upper links with revised stiffer bushings

Or even better yet, do you think it's possible to buy those parts and have a non-Tesla shop install them?

Yes, I had the upgrade done on my Signature P85. I love it. I opted for the 'identical refit' that changed out the entire suspension and rear subframe to be exactly like a factory built P85+. Unfortunately I believe Tesla discontinued the program at their service centers. Probably because they are so busy now and don't have the time to put into refits. When I had it done, the service center techs were usually sitting around with not much to do. So I suspect Tesla was trying to bring in revenue to help pay for their labor costs.

Installing won't be the issue, IMHO. Getting the parts from Tesla could be a possible outcome of the policy charge that @JonMc announced earlier.

I'm also interested. I generally dislike the compliance of the rear sus, but I think the rumor was these stiffer components we used across the board in later builds

I'm not sure, but I think it is. Lolachamp on the forum would be the best person to ask about the suspension, he has a great deal of knowledge about this.

From what I remember some, if not all, of the + suspension was adopted at some point in all the cars coming off the line. But then I think a decision was made to make the ride of all the cars a bit softer. Maybe a way to describe it is the + suspension is like a BMW 'M' car setup. It was a bit to harsh for some, so now all the cars are more like your average BMW coming off the line.

Ask Lolachamp on the forum, he may be able to tell you based in the VIN # of the car what suspension is in it.

Does he have production data by specific VIN?

Because looking at all the data in EV-CPO, I've learned since yesterday you can't go by VIN range. For example, here are 45 P85Ds in VIN order that were all CPOs and a Y or N if they had the PX01 option code for the Performance Plus suspension. As you can see, it's randomly distributed at about a 50/50 ratio. And this is just VINs that start with P63xxx.

Because looking at all the data in EV-CPO, I've learned since yesterday you can't go by VIN range. I think he can probably tell you approximately the range of VIN's that had the '+' suspension even though they were just standard production cars. Or alternatively, he might be able to give you the approximate production dates of cars that had the '+' suspension. I don't think he would have specific per car VIN info on a specific car. I'm fairly sure Tesla has it. Whether or not they will release that info to the public is probably unlikely.

You should be able to identify if its a P85D+ suspension by raising your SAS, turning the wheel, and looking at the front air spring module for DM SS 1030608-01-A (P85+ sport suspension)

I think FDSS on the shock indicates Front shock Dual motor Sport Suspension

I agree with you, but the data that Tesla publish doesn't. But we know they've had coding issues on their CPO site. According to the CPO history, the following VINs are all coded as P85Ds. My guess is that they're really miscoded P85+s.
