I don't mind the wait .. that much ;-)

That said ... as a 55 yr old whose last "performance" vehicle was an '89 Mustang 5.0 LX ... I'm VERY excited to have this parked in my driveway. I've waiting a LONG time! lol!!

Thanks for putting in so much "leg" work.

Talked to my Tesla contact again today. He told me he could not find the car that was "en route". He could not provide any further updates but reassured me that he would do some homework to dig around for a potential ETA. Didn't sound very promising but will keep you guys posted.

in the meantime looking at some CPO model S's with ludicrous that are around the same price as fully loaded M3P. Half tempted but they are all on v1 autopilot hardware, which is a bummer.

My waiting room story/update:

Ordered Model 3 Performance April 3
Midnight metallic, white interior, full self driving.

Called customer service and after entering in my zip code, the guy I talked to found “10 available cars matching my build.” He got one assigned to me, said it was in San Antonio, and that the delivery specialist would be reaching out within 24-48 hours. That time came and went. Called twice, the first person told me to just hang in there and wait, the second one today told me that the VIN had been unassigned. So he “re-assigned” it, and told me the website/my account should update from RN to VIN by the end of the day (the website never updated before). Can’t say I’m surprised, but no change still.

Needless to say my first impressions of Tesla and their customer service have definitely not been very positive. Maybe the car itself will change that, but I will definitely be cancelling my order if it isn’t delivered by June.

I’m going to call back tomorrow being a squeaky wheel, but I doubt it will do any good.

Another BMW replacement here, 2013 335xi with the MSport Package. Always dreamed of the M3/M4 but found them slightly impractical costly for commuting and city driving (maintenance plus traffic).

I've just come out of a 2008 M3 into a 2019 P3D and have absolutely no regrets, the only downside to the P3D is the lack of soundtrack and maybe subjective looks ... in every other category it blows the M3 away, i.e. performance, comfort, practicality, technology, servicing costs

From the Q1 letter: We believe we will deliver between 90,000 and 100,000 vehicles in Q2. Although it is possible to deliver a higher number of vehicles, we believe it is important to begin unwinding the "wave" approach to vehicle deliveries, where overseas cars have been made in the first half of the quarter and North American cars have been made in the second half. This puts extreme stress on Tesla, negatively affects our working capital needs and adds to our cost structure.

One of my fears was that all production right now is being sent overseas. I suppose there's a chance that an NA batch will be made before a June delivery.

Also from the letter:
Unlike Model S and Model X, we do not build Model 3 vehicles to order. Rather, given its significantly higher volume, we build different variants of Model 3 in batches (including regional versions), and every vehicle that leaves the factory initially becomes inventory. While in inventory, those vehicles are then matched to a specific order made by each customer.

If this is the case then why wouldn't they make the website display accurate delivery estimates, if they know which batches are being produced when?

Because they are in need of sales and several wouldn’t order if they knew the inventory was unpredictable or a 4+ weeks waiting cycle. That and it’s perhaps it is their goal to deliver within 2 weeks still (and they were actually doing so when they had cars in inventory) but goals are not matching up with reality unfortunately due to complications with processes, tooling, supply chain and demand.

If you have heard Tesla being run like a technology company here is your prime example.

Can we receive a full refund on our $2,500 deposit? How many will cancel their order? Tesla is betting on the demand being high enough to not do anything.

Because it gets you all excited that it says 2-4 weeks and you go ching ching here's my deposit.
Crap mine went from 2-4 weeks today to 6-8 weeks now, so I'm not impressed the least now.
I got a trade and just feel now, I'm gonna get screwed on my trade value, taking that long.
